I had a wonderful day fly fishing guided by Joe Gaboury of Maine Wilderness Fishing. Joe contacted me by phone beforehand, with clear instructions on where to meet, made arrangements for lunch, and checked over my gear before we left Oquossic. As local river water levels were low, Joe selected a pond/river site where I could refresh my long-dormant casting skills (with Joe's coaching) and ended up catching and releasing many native trout using dry flies in the early morning. When that action slowed, we moved to the river, and switched to nymphs and streamers (Joe's selection) catching a couple of larger trout before lunch. The lunch provided was a sub from Oquossoc Grocery and chips, which tasted great. After lunch, Joe talked with another guide about the low water levels, and we decided to go to Upper Dam. We used streamers there, and I finished the day with another nice trout. Joe was a great guide, very friendly, willing to share his knowledge, a good coach to improve technique, and a pleasant person to share a fishing day. I'll definitely want Joe to guide me on my next visit.

I spent 2 full days with Joe Gaboury on the Kennebago River and had the most productive experience. Joe's knowledge as a Maine Guide and the Kennebago River is outstanding! Plus Joe is a great person to spend a day with fishing. His location and fly selection was the reason I landed 8 landlocked salmon in 2 days. This is when the talk at Grants Camp was about the fish they didn't catch in the river! Call Joe Gaboury for a great Maine experience !

Joe Gaboury did a terrific job as our fishing guide on Rangeley and Mooselookmeguntic the last two mornings. He knows where to fish, what to present to the fish, and how to make life easy for fishermen. Joe is also a personable fishing companion and great to work with on a boat. He has the skills and the boating and fishing equipment to make navigating and fishing possible (even pleasant) in less than perfect weather. We will work with Joe again

We were very disappointed in our trip. I called ahead of time and discussed with Joe what we were looking for before booking. A few months later, we had a big let down. When we got on the lake and I saw we were the only fishing boat, I knew it wasn't a good sign. There was barely any life in the lake and what we did catch was small and tiny. The "boat" was a small canoe with a motor. We had high expectations for our trip to Maine and were hopeful that the fishing wood be good but this trip was a big let down. Don't be fooled by the pictures, that is not the boat you will go on or the fish you will catch. Definitely, not worth the price...

Joe Gaboury provided my wife and I an amazing experience fishing the Rangely Lake Region. He is extremely knowledgeable of all things fishing. He surprised us with his naturalist knowledge and environmental concerns. He is the consummate guide, very personable, and was attentive to our physical needs as senior fishermen. Definitely a high quality value priced fishing experience. Yes - we did catch fish! Joe has our highest recommendation. We are already planning...
