Where to begin? H3 changed our lives! We have been rescuing pups for a long time. Having grown up with a husky mix and having had a husky mix bonded senior pair as our first rescues as an adult couple, we decided it was time to add a 4th dog. I know - what were we thinking? We reached out to H3 and Jenni took us on a virtual tour to introduce us to some of the seniors. We had only been adopting seniors until this point and she asked if we would be open to a younger pup with a disability. Disabilities and seniors are our thing and we said we would be open to it. Jenni was spot on - she based this suggestion on the personality of the dog she had in mind and had also given consideration to the household pack we already had (3 seniors - 2 girls - one of which is very opinionated). Jenni has a magical knack for knowing which pups are the right fit for each family/person. And so began our H3 journey. Phoenix arrived to us (courtesy of H3 bringing him right to our front door) and turned our lives upside down (in the very best way). He was 2.5 years old as the time (quite an adjustment for the seniors and us!) and brought so much joy and energy into our home. We now go to classes each week and he’s starting advanced therapy dog training (he’s truly the sweetest most loving boy in the world!). Most importantly - because of his disability (blindness due to glaucoma) we were worried about ensuring he was comfortable and healthy - H3 was there every step of the way. I have regular contact with Jenni and the crew at H3 and they have been a huge source of emotional support throughout. In fact, H3 also stepped up and covered the cost of his surgery when it came time to have his enucleation. Jenni also made a special stop to visit us on one of her Northeast transport trips - Phoenix was beyond excited and recognized her immediately as evidenced by the hugs and kisses! We have been so fortunate to bring Phoenix and H3 into our lives and I look forward to the day we add another Husky (or several??) to our pack. As they say - the best thing you can do for your Husky is get them another Husky! Thankful for H3 and for the incredible work they do to save...
Read moreJenni and her team are nothing short of amazing. I've never met anyone who is more passionate about her calling (not her "job") than Jenni. Her passion is evident in everything she does, and it spills over to her employees and volunteers. I've had Siberian Huskies as my companions for the last thirty plus years - all started with me as puppies who were "pet quality" from reputable breeders who showed their dogs at AKC Conformation Shows. When my last Husky passed away from leukemia, I felt a calling to adopt a "senior" Husky, so I could give him a great rest of his life. I discovered H3 using Google search. I worked with Jenni and her team, making many two-hour plus road trips to H3 on weekends to spend time with a couple of candidates. I was blown away at how well Jenni and her team were able to match my needs and wants to several of their Huskies, which means they know their "kids" very well indeed. That means they are spending quality time with each Husky. In the end, I was chosen by my current companion. He came to me, licked my hand once, and sat in front of me, on my feet, as if to say, "You're not going anywhere without me". As I was scratching his back, he stood up and jumped on the crate next to the one I was sitting on, and leaned into me. My heart melted. I was allowed to visit a few more times to test his temperament, leash skills, openness to grooming, ability to be trained, etc. before I made my decision. I asked Jenni to bring him to my vet for a final check to ensure there weren't any major issues on adoption day. He passed all my vet's tests and he went home with me. I could tell Jenni was happy he had his "furever" home, but she would miss her "kid". That was March 4, 2023. He is so well behaved and chill that I am allowed to take him to work with me. Everyone loves him and several co-workers stop by regularly to have some Husky Hugs as a stress reliever. So, if you're looking to save a life and are able to handle a Husky (trust me, it's a breed that demands excellent training skills and patience), please consider saving that life at H3. You'll be part of a family that extends across the...
Read moreWe adopted Luna from H3 in August 2022. She was one of the puppymill babies rescued from NM last year. She went from NM to OK to Britney in Harwood,MD to us in Pasadena, MD. This girl is the sweetest, silliest, most loving dog! We couldn't be more grateful! Last December we adopted another husky from a different rescue that's local to us. This pup was the complete opposite from Luna and actually attacked our old girl, Abby, several times. We didn't know what to do and when I contacted the rescue I got her from they couldn't help and were going to take her to a shelter where she'd ultimately be put down! I loved her and wasn't ok with that. So I reached out to Britney who reached out to Jenni and they had a solution. Since H3 was full they couldn't take her in. But... they would swap. To some that may sound harsh but that was the best solution, not the easiest, but the best. Britney told us they had a dog named Finn who had found himself back at H3 to no fault of his own and she felt like he'd fit in great! In July 2023 we took Molly to H3 and brought Finn home with us. Molly now has a great chance at living her best life in a better home environment suited for her and Finn has been a great addition to our pack. Also, When a local surgeon said Luna needed immediate knee surgery that was going to cost over $4k they took her to Key Animal Hospital, 4 hours away, to see their vet and we learned she did not need surgery! We couldn't be more grateful for H3! They truly have our back and they've proven it more than once! If we choose to get another husky the only place we will get one from is H3. I tell everyone about them and how wonderful they are. I've never met anyone more dedicated to their cause as they are! THANK YOU Britney Murdock and Jenni Dietsch for all that you do! (Luna on the left and Finn...
