Etowah River. It runs 163 miles through North Georgia and is considered to be one of the nation's most biologically diverse rivers. The greatest thing about it is that it runs through my backyard! It's given me a place to go when times are tough and i can get away from this crazy Covid world we live in just for a while and leave my truck and wallet at home. A place where my wife and I can spend some some time together without the stress of everyday life. A place for my dog to cool off on a hot summer day. A place I can take my son at the drop of a hat, let him get his feet wet and teach him about the birds, animals, trees, different types of vegetation, and well, just about Mother Nature. We kayak the river, but there are shallow points when we have to get out and portage our vessels. The river is also connected to the Allatoona dam and is occasionally flooded.
