Judging the store for what it is: a small local grocery store in a remote area of Maine? It's pretty good! The staff are friendly and selection is reasonable for the size. While I don't buy it, I do seem some organic and gluten-free options here. Pricing is a bit higher than some are accustomed to but it's not ridiculous. Quality is generally fine, particularly the deli.
What's actually in stock can get a little inconsistent around the beginning and end of tourist season though due to rapidly changing demand. Prices can also sometimes be absent for an item on the shelf or missing from the system, but it's infrequent.

Read moreThe hot food bar is always worth a gander. It's simple fare, but every once in a while there will be a real knock-out dish on offer. As a grocery store, it does the job; if you can't find what you're looking for, you probably didn't actually NEED it. It's Locally run and Employee owned, so your money goes into pockets of people in the Island. Good booze selection, nice smattering of local products such as 44 North Coffee, Cold Water Seafood smoked mussels, though I miss being able to pick up Tinder Hearth bread at Burnt Cove. And while I'm chasing the vapors of nostalgia, I also miss the DVD rental at the deli counter; it's a small tragedy to see it gone. Meat is always a risk frozen food is better now veggies i dont dare get on the count of I have bought to many rotten without knowing it. And i dont do the deli either on the count they dont always use gloves when making sandwich or cutting sandwich meat ect. Would like to see The Store do better...
