I can't say enough good things about Marquis Jewelry Academy. Emily and Cal (and their very cute dog Captain) made the whole process both so simple and so special. I knew from my first email exchange with Emily, that this was going to be a great experience and certainly worth making the trip from New Hampshire to Connecticut. We even had to move our initial reservation because of COVID and Emily and Cal were very accommodating.
My husband (fiance at the time) and I took the wedding band workshop, with the intention of each of us making the others ring. Emily came up with the very cool idea to keep the rings a secret from one another until the wedding day.
While maintaining the secrecy of each design, Emily and Cal were able to guide my husband and I through the process from start to finish of making our wedding bands. Last week during our wedding ceremony my husband got to see the ring I made for him, and I got to see the ring he made me, for the first time. During the reception everyone kept coming up to us asking to see the rings, and to tell us 1.) how cool the idea was that we got to handmake our wedding rings, and 2.) how cool it was that we kept the ring designs a secret until the ring exchange during the ceremony.
Emily, Cal, and Captain create a welcoming and judgement free environment in their studio in which you can explore your creativity, and even if you are like me and are not very creative, you will go home with a beautiful piece of jewelery. They walked us through each step patiently, taking time to answer questions and help us with ideas when we got stuck. If you are looking for a special date activity, or a fun learning experience, absolutely reach out to Marquis...
Read moreLast June, I decided to sign up for Marquis Jewelry Academy with the goal of learning a new skill and eventually starting my own brand. From the moment I stepped into the studio, Emily and Cal welcomed me warmly and showed a genuine interest in my aspirations. Over the past year, this place has truly become a second home to me.
Emily and Cal are not only incredibly experienced in the goldsmithing industry, but they also deeply care about the success of their students. They are dedicated to helping us build solid foundations for a prosperous future in the jewelry industry. Whether it’s through business brainstorming sessions, career mapping, or introductions to diamond and gemstone jewelers, their guidance is invaluable.
Their teaching extends far beyond the basics. I’ve learned advanced techniques that most students wouldn’t encounter until years into their goldsmithing education. A goldsmith teacher I met in LA, who has been in the industry for decades, was astonished at the knowledge and skills I’ve gained in just one year at Marquis Jewelry Academy.
If you’re considering signing up for goldsmithing classes, whether for fun or with a career in mind, I highly recommend Marquis Jewelry Academy. You won’t just acquire exceptional skills; you’ll also gain amazing friends in Emily, Cal, and other students. Plus, Captain, their friendly dog, adds an extra touch of warmth to...
Read moreMy partner and I chose to create our wedding bands and while searching for places that gave you that opportunity, we found that our search was very limited. This is what makes what Emily and Cal offer just that much more unique and special! My partner was a little hesitant about creating them but once we had our consultation with Emily we were sold! Not only were Emily and Cal super sweet and have awesome personalities, but they made sure that we left with EXACTLY what we wanted. We had a lower budget and were pleasantly surprised with the cost, we felt that it was very affordable considering you're leaving with two rings. We both left in awe with how our rings came out, and also the quality of the rings! It is even more special to know that he made my ring and I made his. We cant wait to go back for our anniversary to make another set ! If you are considering between purchasing or creating your rings, please consider coming to see Emily and Cal! You will not be...
