I stopped in here about 3 weeks ago for a screen replacement on an iPhone 7 plus. I was told that the screen wasn't in stock, but that I could leave my phone at the store and come back that Friday. I waited for a phone call that Friday, yet did not receive one telling me that my iPhone had been repaired, so I did not go. About a week later, I finally returned to the store to claim my 'repaired' phone. I quickly discovered that the technician (although to call him that would be like calling a kid who scribbles on the walls of their home an artist), Mr. Meravi, had indeed replaced my fractured iPhone screen with a brand new one.
My home button, however, was no longer functional although it was just about the only functional thing when I brought in my phone. He offered to repair it for an additional $30 fee (after a hefty $170 for the screen) and I was absolutely shocked. It seemed preposterous to me that I would have to pay to have something repaired that was not broken in the first place. Mr. Meravi attempted to place the blame for this on the impact that cracked the screen, saying that would have damaged the connection to the home button. Around this time (we were arguing for about 30 minutes), another customer came in and Mr. Meravi used this as an excuse to ask me to leave the building (I was not wearing a mask, and at that point coincidentally, Mr. M decided it would be a good idea to suddenly enforce his shop's policy--though he did not wear a mask the first time I went). As I passed the other customer on the way out, he told me of his tribulations with 802 mobile, namely that his phone had been faultily repaired as well.
I was just about to leave, when I noticed that even the screen on my phone had not been situated correctly, and one edge was sticking up. I immediately returned to the shop and demanded that Mr. Meravi repair this. He consented, and consequently removed the screen and improperly re-situated the screen a second time. I pointed this out to him, and he became visibly frustrated, but nonetheless agreed to have another go. During this third attempt, he tried to convince me that my phone was warped/bent, a byproduct of carrying it a back pocket (which I do not do). He then made a vague comment about how this is an issue for teenage women who wear tight jeans and keep their phones in their back pockets. After finally figuring out how to situate my phone screen properly, I was content to leave the shop. I did not think to write a review, as this is not something I normally engage in.
A few days ago, however, my phone screen edge began to pop up again. 802 mobile has a generous guarantee on all of their workmanship. However, given the unprofessional handling of clients, and their dubious business practices, I fear I will expend more resources attempting to hold them to that warranty than I will simply not bothering. I feel, however, that it is only just to let others know of...
Read moreJoe is superb! Today with grace & patience he gently moved me out of my 14 year old office & into a new & much more efficient & user friendly mobile office consisting of a new model iphone encased in a casing of my choice (he only had one on hand that fit my needs perfectly)d, a new laptop with a wonderful travel case, & synched my new phone to my car.
To top it off, he had just the right cord a friend needed to recharge his phone.
All of this kind & expert service was delivered this afternoon while I remained in his shop, able to continue my own work in a comfy chair for 2 hours. He never told me to leave my old models while he transferred all my data, but instead we worked collaboratively while all this was done, he gently accommodating other customers flowing in & out of his business, no one made to feel less important or impatient.
Joemamma 13 is a true gentleman, scholar, & expert technician. I can't thank him enough for his compassionate & caring service & teaching today. He is truly...
Read moreI almost hate to give 802 Mobile a favorable review because then everyone will be in on the secret! I think I connected with 802 Mobile because I had some sort of cell phone “crisis” and didn’t feel like driving all the way to Burlington just to be given a slip of paper with a number or web address to contact customer service. pfft. That big name obviously doesn’t know what customer service is. But Joe at 802 Mobile does!! He is very knowledgeable about different cell phone makes, models, and accessories. He has helped each member of our family with phones (new & refurbished), repaired what we were convinced were irreparable, supplied us with appropriate cases and charger cords when we were in need. He also gave us helpful advice when we needed to change our cellular carrier. His shop is truly a hidden gem; small & tucked away in Stowe. You can walk in but I’d recommend calling ahead. 802 Mobile gets busy because Joes gets...
