I’ve never experienced a more unreasonable or unwelcoming community. I was visiting Penn Estates as an Airbnb guest, lost service trying to find the Welcome Center, and accidentally followed another car in. A Safety Patrol officer stopped me, explained the rules, and personally escorted me to register within minutes, he even said it was okay. Days later, I still got a citation. When I called to explain, I was told there was nothing they could do and that ‘even residents who’ve lived here 20 years get tickets.’
It’s ridiculous to punish people for honest mistakes when they immediately cooperate and follow instructions. If this is how they treat visitors, I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to live here full time. Absolutely no flexibility, no compassion, and zero...
Read moreThey literally exist to bleed money out of you. They change rules and ordnances without informing you, or create situations where its impossible to not be fined or out right illegal. I was fined for a neighbors tree, fully growing and rooted on their side of the property line, that partially fell into my property/waterway. Asked a Lawyer /r/treelaw I would be liable for damages for cutting that tree down. When I informed them I had no right to cut to trim the neighbors tree, they fined me again. I then had to hire a lawyer to write a letter before they would relax the fine.
They then tried to fine me again, when the neighbor cut the tree down citing that we did not get a permit to have the tree removed.
