Although the 2 mile dirt/gravel road is not well maintained, turned All Wheel drive Subaru Outback into a bucking bronc, the view of the Armuchee Valley across to Lookout Mountain is spectacular. Special thanks to those who made the observation deck handicapped accessible. Might take a couple more visits to see all the trails.

This place is always beautiful, especially after 2 miles of rough road.I didn't hike to Keown Falls, as it was probably dry due to lack of rain. Also, a mountain bike organization was setting up for an event taking place later in the day. It's really quiet since the summer season is over.

It's not exactly a lookout tower; it's more a slightly elevated overlook in a clearing near a parking lot. Nevertheless, this place provides some great views of the ridge-and-valley region of northwest Georgia. Hope you don't mind a ~20 minute long drive up a bumpy gravel road, though.

I have been here several times. Although the comments about the road are no doubt correct, it is still easier than hiking in from the Pinhoti Trail.

The other option is to park at the Keown Falls parking lot, hike up to the falls overlook, then hike from there to the John's Mt. overlook. According to the Ga Pinhoti Trail guide, the distance from the falls to the Mt. is just...
