I HIGHLY URGE YOU TO FIND A DIFFERENT SALON
I had my first visit to Modern Design yesterday to have a few highlights put in and a trim. My grandfather passed away and my husband has been away in the military since Nov. Next week is the funeral and my husband finally comes home. I wanted to look nice so I scheduled my appointment.
My appointment lasted 4 hours and did not include a blow dry so when I left I thought everything was fine. When I got home and my hair dried I could see the extensive damage that was done to my hair. Instead of a trim, I had 4" taken off and it was completely uneven. The highlights weren't highlights, it was a blotchy dye job and was neon yellow. My scalp was on fire and I was in excruciating pain.
I drove over an hour away to my previous stylist before I moved and she told me I had extensive chemical burns on my entire scalp and that it looked like I bought a $7 box of color at CVS and let a five year old finger paint in my hair. Chunks of hair were falling out just from touching it because of the extensive damage caused.
I called the owner of the salon letting her know what happened and asked for my money back. She refused. She blamed me and my well water for the color and basically said I was lying about the pain I was (and still am!) in. I had to take Tylenol last night to fall asleep through the pain. I went into the salon and she finally gave a partial refund but I am still out $70 and dealing with excruciating pain and extensive damage to my hair.
I've never been treated so poorly before and I've been in tears all night and all day over the damage and pain. I'm stunned that a business like this is still running. I fear for...
Read moreI've been going to this salon for just about a year - Traci does a truly excellent job, however, from my last appointment at the end of March to my appointment today, the cost of my haircut increased by $16, which I found out only when I went to pay. I was pretty blindsided - that's a significant increase that I wasn't prepared for, and had I known, I wouldn't have kept the appointment, it's simply not in my price range. The price I had been paying prior to today was already at the top of my budget. If you can afford their prices, and have wiggle room for surprise price increases, it's a great salon. I can't disparage the service I've received, I've been very happy with my hair, so they may well be worth the new, heftier price tag, but I've been to several other salons over the years that have made customers aware of price increases with considerable notice in advance before the change takes effect so no one is caught off guard - perhaps that's something this salon could consider in the future when raising prices, ESPECIALLY when it's a sizable jump, as this was. An increase can't always be absorbed by your customers - give people an opportunity to go elsewhere if they can't afford the new pricing rather than putting them in an uncomfortable...
Read moreI was new to the area and tried a different salon at first, but wasn't getting the results I was hoping for. My friend with curly hair soon referred me to Traci since she just had a great experience with her. I am so happy she did because this salon is so friendly and inviting to be in. Traci was so helpful in letting me know what is realistic and not as I was trying to lighten my hair for my upcoming wedding. She did such a fabulous job that I knew I wanted them to help me get ready the day of my wedding. Traci did our hair and Betsy did our makeup for my wedding party and I couldn't have been happier with the results. I received many compliments on my hair and loved the natural look Betsy was able to provide. I would definitely recommend this salon to everyone. 6 years later and Traci is still my go to hair stylist and now she cuts my son's hair too. She is so patient with him and caring. The staff at the salon are always friendly...
