Made a pit stop at Stuckeyâs Summerton with my 5 year old. I havenât been to a Stuckeyâs since I was a kid in the 70âs. I was excited to buy some boiled peanuts. I have such fond memories of visiting the stores with my dad. I couldnât find the peanuts because I was overwhelmed by gun signs all over the store. I didnât realize the chain had changed its branding away from general gift to commentary. When I finally asked if they had any peanuts I was told âno.â I sighed and said âawe, I used to love the Stuckeyâs boiled peanutsâ. Then a younger staff person spoke up and said âyesâ we have them and showed them to me.
There were zero customers. I would have thought the dog park they had would attract customers, but it didnât seem to be pet friendly retail wise. I bet putting pet friendly merch in the window instead of guns would attract more people. We almost didnât stop but I wanted to give it a chance. I should add a star for the young person who kindly spoke up and showed me where the peanuts were, but I was too...
Read moreI was going to give this place fewer stars due to relative dirtiness but two things prevented me from doing that. The first is the incredible amount of stuff they have crammed into this relatively small space. They could give a lesson to stores that do not maximize their retail area. The second feature is (according to the cashier who said she has worked for them for 9 years) that this is one of the last six original Stuckey's. It was relocated to make room for Interstate 95. Note the great architectural treatment for the ceiling. This is supposed to be because Mr Stuckey owned a lumber yard and could afford to make the stores more attractive. Supposedly the design is an upside down ship's hull. I hope it is all true as it makes for a nice story and a good...
Read moreQuite an interesting petrol station đł Love the fact that they have an area for your pets. Never seen that before at a petrol station. They also have 7 charging stations for your vehicle, tesla I believe. 8 petrol pumps, NO canopy over them. Lots of souvenirs to choose from inside, from stuckeyâs pecan log and different variety of candy, to mugs, blankets, hats and cute hand painted miniature porcelain figurines. Also inside is a DQâs. The lavatories are horrible! Smelt like a portable toilet after a music festival. Stale pee smell, gross. Other than that, the place was relatively clean and the staff was friendly.
Gas, pet, food, souvenirs,...
