If I could give no stars I would. No issues with the rest of the staff, just the owner. Her husband and all others were compassionate and understanding. Just her... Had an issue after adopting a dog. She was trying to reach us after we took our new pet home. Wife hadn't set up voice mail on new phone yet, and we don't generally answer calls from #s we don't recognize. So they called 2 times then started calling all reference numbers on the application. They called my landlord and told them they could not reach us. Started a huge problem for us with the landlord. She was rude to his office workers and from what I understand the landlord himself. Caused such a problem for us, and even though it clearly states in our lease we were allowed to have animals, he made us give him back. So to avoid any more issues we contacted the rescue to return him. Extremely rude and disrespectful to my wife who was already in a hysterical state due to the fact we had to give the dog back, and from what we just went through with the landlord. Actually insulted our home and where we live in Toledo. Totally overstepped their bounds and had the gall to be rude after creating problems for our family and our home situation. Maybe should learn how to deal with the human public instead of just animals. Rude, disrespectful, and just plain mean. The facility is very nice and clean...just her.. If you can deal with the other workers or her husband your experience will be pleasant, but if you deal with the her you will leave with a bad taste...
Read moreWe recently just adopted our newest addition to the family! FMAR was very responsive and super professional in all of our interactions. We discussed in detail over the phone what kind of dog would best fit our lifestyle and wants. Then when it was time to meet the dogs, we were given plenty of time to get to know them with no rush in a spacious play yard.
We then set up a second meeting with our current dog and our favorite canine candidate to test their compatibility. I was a little nervous to introduce the dogs to each other but the staff at FMAR took their time with a slow and controlled introduction that ended with success! I was very impressed with their cautious, informed, and professional approach to this dog meeting.
Additionally, this was actually not my first interaction with FMAR. I had adopted my late dog almost a decade ago from this same facility. He was my very best friend until he passed of old age late last year. When I knew my family would be looking for our next companion this summer, I just had to stop by FMAR as a first choice. Even back in the day I was able to see the strong teamwork & dedication of the volunteers and the love & care they provide to all animals in their care.
Thank you to everyone at FMAR for not only connecting me with one furry best friend all those years ago but now...
Read moreVery friendly and helpful staff. My boyfriend and I set up an appointment to meet some cats we found on their website to see if they would be a good match for us to adopt. The appointment was on a Saturday, we went into the adult cat room and the senior cat room, but sadly most of the cats were not a good fit for us. Then, they took out a cat from the teen cat room and put her in my arms. I fell in love instantly. As the staff prepped our future kitty to be taken home with us we were taken to the dog kennel to pass the time, even though they knew we were only looking for a cat. When our cat was ready we filled out paperwork to do a test run over the weekend... and ended coming back the next business day to adopt her! As we filled out the adoption paperwork the staff trimmed her nails and cleaned her ears (and taught us how to do it ourselves), which was helpful for us because we have never taken care of a cat before. Thy also offered for us to bring her back in the next week for another nail trimming if we had trouble doing it ourselves. We’ve had her for over a year now and couldn’t imagine life without her. Thank you for knowing exactly which cat to put in my arms that is...
