We were referred to this store by friends who live in the area and my husband and I decided to give it a try. We had a great experience when it came to the original sales portion where we ended up spending over $10,000 for a nice bedroom set. The issues came when we had follow up/customer service problems.
We were sold on a box spring and mattress that were not meant for our bed frame. When we tried to connect with the store by sending pictures, videos of the issue (as our mattress would literally bounce back and forth and wouldn’t fit in the frame properly and was free floating), we got a lot of resistance. We contacted our original sales person, the manager/owner of the store and the service manager of Mapes. The owner never followed up like she said she would. The service manager was very rude and yelled at me on the phone, and the sales person seems like was met with the same resistance we were. They finally sent the delivery guys back to see what the issue was and they noticed, besides our original issue, that the bed was not properly installed and the frame could’ve broken off at any time. There was a lot of “he said, she said”, unprofessional service, a lot of headache, and no responsibility taken by any party.
The store personnel was blaming us and told us we broke the bed in an attempt to move it, which we didn’t. It is impossible to move the bed with the mattress as it is VERY heavy. But even with the blame, it didn’t even answer the question as to why our mattress wouldn’t fit in our bed frame.
Very disappointed after spending so much money to support a small business, to be treated so poorly simply because we wanted our issues, which were very valid, fixed...

I would wager that 95% of their business comes from the larger, surrounding towns of Grand Ledge, Ionia, Lake Odessa, etc.
They should update their store hours on the internet rather than waste people's time and gas traveling many miles to be met with a hand written notice taped to their door saying they are closed til Jan 22.
