I echo Daniel Ruggles comments regarding the service received on the Pontoon Boat. Greg claims they "cleaned the whole fuel system emptying your tank..." "We emptied out all the lines and the tank" "We cleaned the fuel system" "We emptied out all the lines and the tank". It's beyond me if you know it's a fuel issue that you decided not to check the boat out with the onboard fuel system equipment INCLUDING THE TANK. You apparently knew it was empty and clean. You should have used it to make sure there was not a problem with it. Additionally, when Daniel called to discuss this issue, you informed him that water was initially detected in the fuel. This is certainly a red flag that this could be a major part of the problem. We took the boat to you to fix it, not to simply get it running on your portable fuel tank. When the boat was picked up there was no mention of the fact that you used your portable fuel tank, and you did not use the boats onboard tank. We were obviously not planning to use the boat with your portable fuel tank. After being stranded and having to be towed in, we had another mechanic to come and get the boat running with a portable fuel tank. Obviously, the onboard fuel tank should have been and still needs to be checked out. Very dissatisfied that the boat was not thoroughly checked out/repaired and that the level of service received was not fully communicated regarding the work performed and not performed. For the record, the boat sat under shelter from the time it was picked up in November 2023 to when it was put in the water in May 2024. We have always only used ethanol free fuel. We will not be using...
Read moreDisappointed is an understatement. I brought my boat down because I struck something with my prop and I was hoping that the only other damage was just lower unit seals. I spoke with the folks there and asked that they check my lower unit as well as I had almost no oil in it after the prop strike. After 3 ½ weeks (they did tell me it would be 3 weeks) I was told that my prop shaft seals were bad and needed to be replaced. I asked them if there was any other damage to the lower unit and was assured that everything was ok. After calling the next day I was told the repairs were done and the boat was good to go. $300 later and I was on my way.
The next day I put the boat in the water and after putting the motor in gear with a load I immediately knew I had an issue. I pulled the boat back on the trailer and checked the lower unit magnet to find an abundance of metal shavings on it. I sent a video down to them of how the motor sounded and was told to bring the boat back and they would look at it but it would be another week and a half at least before they could even look at it and they didn’t know what was wrong.
I decided to find another Yamaha dealer who very quickly found that the bearings and one of the gears had gone bad in the lower unit do to the lack of oil and needed to be replaced. I just wasted $300+ on a new prop shaft seal that got thrown in the trash with the old lower...
Read moreTo our fellow boaters who will eventually need service, maybe parts or just advice around the Holly Ridge area, we’ve found the place for us and that’s Greg’s Outboard Marine. We needed some warranty work done on our boat so we contacted them and spoke to Mike. Mike is the epitome of the kind of customer service you always want and hope to receive with any business. His positive demeanor shined through with his professionalism, knowledge, courteous, proactive, and outstanding support to this customer. It’s very reflective of Greg’s Outboard Marine overall and the technicians working there, well their work was above board and outstanding. You bet this business is very busy, it’s undeniable, yet their outward visual is nothing but smiles and support. If I could rate this business with 10 stars, it just wouldn’t be enough. Thanks for all...
