Opened a dx engineering credit card. Went to the store on 6/24/2023 bought Yeasu FT-DX 10. Price tag 1,400.00 Being a first responder who works 75+ hours a week. I had very little time to get on the air. I literally used the radio less than 5 hours at this point. On July 4th I tuned the radio on and noticed I no longer could connect to FT8 or any other cat controlled digital modes. The tx light keeps flashing until you unplug the cat cable. I replaced the usb cable with a brand new Trip lite. Reset radio, Uninstalled everything on computer. Still nothing on 7th which was my next day. Turned the radio back on now the external display was no longer working. After exusting everything I could do including buying an additional USB Cable and an additional dvi cable. I contacted dx engineering and got a response about how to troubleshoot. Radio is still not working. Contacted Yeasu, and they want almost 100.00 just to ship to them so they can look it over. Whether in a warranty issue who knows , if it's 90.00 per hr labor plus parts. I'm disappointed ,sick and in dismay. How a radio less than week old has so many issues. Also why in the world would I have to pay shipping for a manufacturer defect. I will post an update on what happens next. 7/12/23 Talked to DX Engineering, they are going to send me a label to send the radio to them to check it out. Guy was very nice on the phone. Radio was shipped back to Dx Engineering on 7-13-23. Update on 07-19-2023 received a new transceiver from DX Engineering. DX Engineering went...
Read moreI just spent 4 months ordering some coax from 3 other companies (because I didnt know DX Engineering was near my home) after having those orders get delayed time and time again to the point I had to cancel them and try to get refunds.
Granted I was trying to get some Messi & Paoloni Hyperflex, but every company said it was in stock when I ordered from them, only to balk and admit they didn't have it a month later.
I discovered DX Engineering was only an hour from my home! I ordered their brand of coax (some DXE400 Max) and it was delivered the 2nd day! I could have driven up to get it, but I I knew I that if I visited the store, I was going to empty my bank account on radio gear!!!!
The coax was superb. Testing on my end showed that it exceeded their listed specs and is basically invisible to my radio in the HF bands. The patented connectors that DXE uses are solid, clean and secure, and I have no doubt that I won't have to replace it anytime soon.
Thank you DX Engineering in Tallmadge, Ohio! You provided an excellent product at a fair price and were honest with me and went above and beyond what I've experienced over the last 4 months from multiple other amateur radio "superstores". You just became my first choice for gear and supplies. Special thanks to Dave who answered my phone call and my questions before I ordered. Can't wait to visit the store...
Read moreI would rate zero.. but that’s not an option. I usually don’t write reviews, but I had to on this. I placed an order for a Astron VS-35M power supply, Icom IC-9100 and a DSTAR module for the 9100 unit.
First and foremost, the Astron Power Supply was not working correctly, specifically the meters were not working. Since you cannot send anything back that you open. (be very cautious, if you open the box it is considered USED and from that point it’s a warranty issue)
I didn’t consider that a big deal.. I’m a pretty laid back guy, I’ll fix it or contact Astron personally.
Secondly, the module DID NOT come in either box that we’re shipped.. I checked multiple times. Took the high road and called and left a message seeing it possibly it was already installed in the IC-9100. No response. So I email the company, went back and forth. They checked with shipping and their inventory is right, that it was scanned and shipped.. well I believe that, BUT it was not in my box/boxes I’m 110% sure.
Lastly.. why after I’ve spent $2500 on an order with a company that I’ve ordered from a couple of times, ruin a relationship with a customer over a $160 item? Why not bite the bullet and make it right?
So I’m sure you see my frustration..
Do the right thing DX.. I would..
Sincerely, Carson
EDIT:
They did the right thing and sent the item I did not receive. 1 star...
