Not too long ago I was playing alone about to tee off the first hole when a group of older gentlemen rode by me as I was waiting for the green to clear. They got out of their carts and approached the ball. They just hopped right in front of me. I know they knew I was there because we exchanged a wave as they rode past me to the red tees as I was waiting. I hollered to them that I was next and they waived me off (ignoring me). I approached them to ask what the heck they were doing and they said “the guy at the clubhouse said for us to head right out”. I was so mad I just left. I confronted the clubhouse staff who then supported the people who fronted me! It’s like they have their own “click” or group to look after and if you aren’t at their age there is no respect. Here I have been judged for asking questions, spoken to like a child, and now feeling discriminated against.
The staff take too long to get people out. The food is miserably bad served by staff who clearly dislike...
Read moreI recently had the chance to play at both the South Course and North Course of MacDill Golf Course, and my experience had its ups and downs. The South Course was disappointing primarily due to the fairways, which were in horrible condition, making it challenging to get comfortable with my game. However, the greens were in decent shape and rolled well, so that was a positive note. The driving range was also in poor condition, limiting my practice options before hitting the course. On the other hand, the North Course offered much better fairway conditions, which I appreciated, but unfortunately, the greens were quite horrible, which detracted from the experience. One consistent highlight across both courses was the fantastic service; the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making my visit more enjoyable despite the course's issues. Overall, with a bit of maintenance, these courses have...
Read moreThis is decent course, albeit one that isn’t either all that remarkable or that you can just play if you feel like it. Being on MacDill AFB, makes it unique to the area. It has some interesting topography as compared to many other Tampa Bay courses, and is literally situated right on the top of the bay. There are a handful if courses that are comparable in quality. You’re not missing anything special if you never get the chance, but if you want to play the full alphabet of Tampa courses, you’ll enjoy your round. Important tip, as it’s on the base, if you’re not military, make sure your name is spelled correctly on the access list, or expect a big hassle getting in. As well, drive the speed...
