Great Lakes Christmas Tree Farms — Local services in Temple Terrace

We purchased a beautiful tree there a week ago. It was reasonably priced and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Because of that I am giving the 3 stars. However, keep reading. When we got home we cut the trunk so it was fresh and followed the same instructions I follow every year with the stand and watering it. Over the past week I had noticed that it was losing more needles than any other tree I have had. But, I thought it's a different kind than I have ever had and maybe they shed more. Well, this morning I woke up and the bottom third of the tree was see through and there were so many needles on the ground that it filled up 2 dustpans and then some. I wish I could post pictures! So, I am not sure if I got a bad tree or if they don't have fresh trees. All I know is it won't last another 2 weeks so we had to go buy another. Yesterday we bought what we thought was a beautiful 7.5 ft tree, Blue Spruce, and paid $90. They cut an inch off the bottom prior to tying it on the car. We got it in the tree stand with water within an hour of buying. Today, it has lost a full dust pan full of needles and although it drank a little bit overnight, it essentially drank nothing from this morning to tonight. The lower 1/3rd now looks almost bare. Not sure if this is a problem with trying to buy live trees in Florida that are all shipped, or if this place is just bad. I love real trees, but I'd have rather bought a fake than have a dead tree a day after...

We went there today and there was still a nice selection of trees, although it's a little late in the tree buying season. We bought a tree and it's very fresh, no needles on the floor after hauling it in and setting it up. They have beautiful poinsettias and they sell them by the case. They are a great price and floral quality. The staff was super helpful and friendly. In no time they had to our tree trimmed and tied to the car.
