The is a nice public course at a State Park. Pro shop is fairly Spartan, but the course has a snack bar and driving range. Putting green doesn't have cups cut, just pins stuck in the green surface. The course itself is straightforward with no hidden pins or 90 degree dog legs. Even the long hitters can hit driver off most tees. When we played, the greens had been aerated several weeks before and sanded in the last few days. The sand made determining the speed a bit tricky. But even if sanded, they were surprising quick. Green surface was consistent with few bad areas. Better than I expect to see at a nice country club. Traps were typical of a public course, low, but with decent sand. Not as many traps as you would find on fancier courses. They had a senior rate, and on a Tues AM I paid just over $30 with cart. Range balls were $4 for a small bucket of about 30 balls. Great value and play was quick. Though it was 4th of July week and we walked on with no reservation, the course was not crowded. Worth the play if you are nearby or staying...
Read moreA very good golf course that is unfortunately in really bad shape. Although the extra-dry summer is a factor in the baked-out fairways, the grass was obviously pretty thin to begin with. Most tees are in terrible, chewed-up condition and look like the markers haven't been moved in weeks. Some are just dirt and several were so worn that you couldn't find a level stance. The one upside was most of the greens were in decent shape. We played here back in April and it was in awful shape then but we gave it the benefit of the doubt since it was so early in the warming season. We were told last month by a local that it was in "much better condition" now but sadly that is not the case. The staff has always been top-notch but paying full-rate for the course in this condition is...
Read moreI’ve played this course 15 times but will never again because the starter ruined the whole experience for an other wise solid course. I came up to the starter at 6:50 for my 7am tee time (checked in at the pro shop at 6:45) and he was incredibly rude.
He told me “Well I’m showing past 7 so your group is already almost done with hole 1”. After showing him 6:50 on my phone and his phone, I asked him if I should go ahead and tee off and he looked at me and said “no you should not have missed your tee time, it’s not my problem…”
I had to skip hole 1 to catch the group I was supposed to play with (who were incredibly kind and also very perplexed at the whole situation). Needless to say, I won’t be coming here anymore as long as that...
