I just graduated from KVCC with an Associates in Multimedia/Video. All of my classes but one were at Center for New Media. This was the best experience of my life. I'm in my early 50's and needed to change my career to something I loved, Photography. The first person to help me was counselor Heidi Stevens. She made sure I was on the right path and helped adjusting classes as needed with the Director of CNM Tom Hamann. The instructors are all caring professionals that will recognize your talents and push you to a level of excellence beyond what you ever dreamed of. Aubrey Hardaway was Instrumental in pushing me out of the nest to my first Solo Art Show at the Epic Center last year and entering other shows. It gave me the confidence to see I really have a gift. To this day, she still inspires and pushes me to my best. There is no experience anywhere like being a part of Room 20. For a creative person in my 50's in a room full of under 25 year olds we were and still are family. Tom Hamann, wow where do I start. From recommending me for jobs locally to again pushing me to show my work to a rep from Columbia College in Chicago, that blew her away and it is where I will be in a year. To be heading to the most prestigious photography schools is mind blowing. Aubrey and Tom where instrumental in pushing me to get into Design Crew. A course that gives you real world experience in a Design company. I literally screamed I'm a photographer and I can't draw stick people. After a semester with Mark DeYoung, I can do it! They were instrumental in getting my internship in the Marketing Department with Linda Depta, where everything I learned came into play. All of these people and so many more are why I graduated into my freelance position shooting for KVCC, The Kalamazoo Foundation, The KV Focus, The MuseON and my photos are everywhere. I'm where I need to be. Thank...
Read moreI have graduated Valley with an Associates of Applied Science in Graphic Design. Most of my time was spent at the CNM campus in downtown Kalamazoo. When I first toured the school, the school seemed like a great place. Lots of activities to attend and a very welcoming atmosphere and staff. Unfortunately after my first semester things started to take a turn for the worst. They would cancel my classes without notifying me, resulting in me being left without a class and frantically having to find something last min to fill in a credit. For the Design program they cancel core classes MONTHS in advance that you need to graduate and when you confront Tom the director he tells you to take something that has no correlation to your program of study. The councilors downtown seem to only know how to do two things. Get you into classes if you pester them enough and bullshit your credits to fit your criteria to graduate. They have no clue what they are doing and youre better off talking to a wall half the time when you have questions. The teachers (all but 2) are part time help and have other jobs outside of the classroom. Because of that their attention is sometimes not 100% on the students and our studies and lessons get neglected resulting in 0 structure in the classroom. Resulting in me not feeling confident enough to step out into the real world with my degree and feeling like I needed to further my education at a university. The only GOOD thing I have found about their design program is MORE then half of their classes transfer to KCAD in Grand Rapids. That is if the classes you need are even available that semester. Very disappointed with my time here. Only thing that came out of it was I reduced my cost for school in the long run and can transfer to a better school willing to...

She no longer works there but no notice was given to the student. 2. FAFSA is not given all at once but like an allowance. It is not the student's fault the school can't keep students there. If you allow anyone to attend, you're going to have a high drop out/fail rate. FASA needs to be disbursed so students can pay for the things they need to pay for. That is the entire purpose of FAFSA. 3. Students walk out in front of traffic. There is no common sense utilized at all. When driving on the property you see police everywhere and students aimlessly walking out into the road without looking both ways, without being aware of their surroundings. 4. Cellphone data is disrupted when within close proximity or within the building. This is a violation of federal law and a computer crime if hardware or software is being used to suppress cell phone...
