The first thing to know about Moby Dick’s Private Pond Fishing is that paying for a private fishing spot does not guarantee you’ll catch fish. I’m sure they stock the pond and maintain the fish population, but it’s clearly not at a level where you can expect consistent bites—even catching anything at all isn’t a sure thing.

The pricing is $15 per person for two hours, regardless of whether you’re fishing or just waiting, with an additional $5 per hour after that. The lake itself is beautiful, with several docks and fishing piers, and they offer boat and golf cart rentals if you want to explore more of the area. You can also rent fishing rods, but we brought our own gear.

That said, the fishing experience itself was disappointing. We were given catfish bait (sausages) and the appropriate hook, yet nothing was biting. The only thing we used from our setup was our rod and fishing line, so technique or bait selection wasn’t the issue. Other people fishing at the same time only caught two small fish during our entire visit. Despite the impressive pictures at the entrance and on Google Maps, our experience didn’t match what was advertised.

However, if you’re coming for a relaxing time outdoors rather than serious fishing, it’s a nice spot. There’s a grill available, and I’d recommend bringing food to cook if you plan on staying a while—especially if not everyone in your group is fishing.

Bottom line: if you’re looking for a peaceful outdoor spot to spend a few hours, this place is great. But if you’re serious about fishing, you’ll likely have better luck at a...

Brought our boys here for spring break and it was our second stop for spring break after a stay at a local resort. My boys said they enjoyed the fishing and the stay at the cabin more than the resort . (I agree ) the best part of the stay was Andy and his wife, they greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to accommodate and make sure our boys had an amazing time and catch fish! Any time we needed something (bait)we messaged and they were available. Andy checked on everyone down at the pond every hour or so asking if we needed anything or just had helpful tips on where to catch the best fish.. we caught multiple fish (huge bass, crappie, massive catfish & blue Gil) each throughout the few days we were there . The small boat to rent was easy to use and perfect for my sons and I to get out on the water as first time boaters. Nothing fancy but it did the job!! We will definitely be back for some more great...

1000 out of 10** Not only is the cabin beautiful and content, the owners (husband & wife) have gone ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure my child had a wonderful time fishing. We had yet to stay a full 24hrs and were astonished by this place. The owners even (he did not have to) offered a ride around the pond to other pavilions and docks when it began to get hot. My kiddo was so greatful for them helping get some catfish, bass, perch, bluegill, sunfish and others. We were grateful for Andy's help. Everything was cleaned and sanitized. It is peaceful. It was perfect and exactly what we needed for the short get away. I only wish we took more pictures.

We will definitely be returning. 😊😊😊

Restaurants, stores and petrole stations all under 10ish miles if we needed anything out side...

Stayed overnight in the Norwegian cottage. Very well kept, clean and comfortable! The pond area provides several decks around the pond to choose from and very well taken care of and decently separated. My wife caught a few small fish and a turtle, even though she really doesn’t know how to fish. So pretty easy to catch something if you through out a hook. I mostly watched and baited her hooks for her. The staff was very friendly and were around if we needed them. They didn’t hover over us at all. Kinda in the background making rounds and picking up trash from trash cans. All in all I would say a pretty good experience over all. Certainly nothing to complain about and a really good getaway place. We both would recommend this place for sure. Thanks for the accommodations staff!

What an amazing experience! I took my son there for his 7th birthday with the hopes of catching his first fish. Owner, Andy, made it his mission to help us catch a fish and make the day a life-long memory. He taught us how to fish, baited our hooks, showed us where and how to cast, and made sure we were set up for success. IT WORKED! My son caught a huge catfish within the first 10 minutes and the rest of the day was set. A short time later we caught an even bigger fish and it was a day we will never forget! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The ponds were peaceful and easy to access. The prices were great. We will be back and we have been recommending Moby Dick's to everyone!
