I volunteered here for one day. I was pretty disgusted by what I saw. This organization basically collects donated household items from the public (yard sale type junk) and resells it. Centsible Furnishing relys on volunteers to do most of the grunt work. The volunteers are good people who want to help others but are nothing but tools in this charity racket. Any money CF makes off the sales goes to pay the building overhead and salaries of their half dozen paid employees. Centsible only uses a tiny percentage of the money to help the poor. These poor people have to prove need and jump through hoops to get minimal assistance. The assistance is in the form of gas cards or giving them used furniture which Centsible got for free. The needy don't get cash to help them but are rather referred to other outside organizations. So what is Centsible Furnishing doing to help people ? Not a thing really... The are another United Way type of operation- collect money and keep 90% for yourself to operate and give our a meager 10% to...
Read moreThey have nice things at good prices but they sell furniture and large household items and they have no one that will help you get it to your car at all. And not everyone has a moving buddy that can come with them. I was also told they couldn't help because of insurance. I understand the little elderly ladies at the counter can't help, but the strapping young man that puts the furniture on the floor from the warehouse could literally have helped me put a coffee table in my minivan but refuse to. I understand the cost of insurance and I understand the cost of employees. I have two retail stores. One is 15,000 ft. One is 17,000 square feet. Trust me I pay for workman's comp. I pay for general liability and I pay employees to help my customers. This...
Read moreThis place is in a serious crisis. The stupidest thing I have ever seen in any store in my life is the jerry-rigged way they put a sofa suspended in the air over another one. Please! have a mature adult make decisions, this is dangerous and could cause someone serious injury. If you have too many sofas, consider lowering the price instead of trying to jam more of them in your space. It's simple, and doesn't risk injury to someone.
Just because you are a charity doesn't excuse you from the need for good management. Have a stand down before someone gets hurt. It's been a long time coming. I had stopped going there due to open construction in the same room as the showroom, and decided to go back only to find something even...
