Vermont Bike & Brew — Local services in Thetford

Being curious about ebikes and spending a week on Lake Fairlee, VT, we decided to try out the rental services of VT Bike & Brew for a 4 hr rental. Jonas was prompt with the delivery of the Haibike Trekking SDURO 4.0 bikes and carefully explained the features of the bikes and how to safely use them. After a brief test run around the yard, my wife and I were off. We covered paved and dirt roads in the area, stopped for an ice cream in Post Mills and went back to check on the dog. I then took off on my usual biking route around the lake and then detoured onto a dirt, then class 4 (ie unmaintained) road that ran uphill with washouts on either side of the rocky center. The bike was flawless even on this section which was not what it is designed for and for which I have not had much experience (I did know what I was getting into When I tried it however. ) I finished up with a speedy downhill to Thetford Center and another uphill dirt road segment. Jonas picked up the bikes on time and made sure of our satisfaction. After a total of 25 miles and 40% battery utilization, we were quite impressed. If we hadn’t just purchased a nice set of Trek hybrid bikes, we might have seriously considered investing in these or similar mid drive ebikes. WOW! We just spent 2 1/2 weeks doing bike tours and renting bikes on our own in New England, and we had so many great adventures, but Vermont Bike & Brew gave us one we'll never, ever forget no matter how many places we bike. From our first call to Jonas, he went out of his way to get to know us and what we were looking to experience. We wanted to get a great all-day workout, to explore Vermont, and to be sure to stay safe while doing it. We've never rented e-bikes before, nor have we had someone create a custom route for us...but both were GREAT decisions! Jonas gives you lots of choices, but they come with no stress or frustration involved, because if something isn't just right, he is dedicated to problem-solving and rescue missions! We ended up riding 50 miles and seeing a level of beauty, charm and pure wondrous GLORY that we didn't know existed! We can't say enough about Jonas - his expertise, kindness, willingness to do whatever it takes, and we can't say enough about his bikes! What a riot - we had so much fun, while still getting tons of exercise. We finished off our 40th Anniversary trip in Vermont - and this Seattle couple is already planning to go...

What a wonderful idea it was to start Vermont Bike & Brew in Thetford! My partner and I rented a couple of electric Haibikes from Vermont Bike & Brew for my 60th birthday. It was my first bike ride in 20 years, as I have had surgery on both shoulders, and had both knees replaced during those years. We rode for two hours, and it was awesome! It truly was the most fun I have had in this crazy pandemic year! Jonas Cole, the owner, brought the bikes to our house and showed us everything we needed to know. He couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. He picked up the bikes when we were done, which made the whole renting thing as easy as pie. I thought the cost for renting was very reasonable. I highly recommend renting an electric bike from Vermont Bike & Brew for both visitors to our area who want a guided tour, and to locals who want to try out an electric bike. I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilling it was to be able to zip up a hill on a bicycle! We are renting from Jonas again this weekend, and then I’m going to have him order one for me to buy, because electric bikes are really cool and Thetford is an absolutely beautiful area to...
