On 1/25, I jumped with Matt, and he made my jump a breeze, so to speak. Adding in the jump I did with Mark in NOV, I had 2 great days. I hope to have many more. See you soon. I'm back. I jumped on 3/22 with Daniel, and had the same good time as I did with Mark and Matt. However it was a a tad too cold for me to try anything with the toggles. I will go back when it is warmer and ask to handle the toggles then. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Back again. My last jump on 5/17 was with Daniel again. This time I had my own altimeter. He let me pull the cord, and I did at 6500 feet. He really knew his stuff. I hope to go back on Independence Day weekend, and use the toggles, as well as pull the cord. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Repeat here. I jumped on 7/5 with Cale. This time no jumpsuit. It was way too hot. Cale is a good instructor. I tries to pull the cord again. I had the cord in my hand, but a blast of air knocked it loose. Fortunately, Cale pulled the cord on the other side. However, he let me handle the toggles from around 5500 feet to around 1200 feet. Good times. I will go back in AUG or SEP. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Back again. Freddie Jumped with me on 9/6. He helped me out a bunch. This place need to fins good instructors like Freddie, Cale, and Danny. Don't forget Matt and Mark. Will be going again real soon. Keep up the good work,...
Read morePJ really took care of me during my first (tandem) jump. He explained what he was doing, quadruple-checked all straps and harnesses, and was easy to talk with and friendly. His clear communication style, and simple instructions demonstrated his professionalism and gave me confidence that we would land safely. THANK YOU, PJ! YOU ARE AWESOME AT WHAT YOU DO.
After checking in (just after 11am on a Saturday morning), I had to wait for about an hour and 20 minutes before boarding the aircraft, and 15 minutes after take-off we were at the jump altitude of just over 15,500 feet.
Freefalling from that altitude is an experience that words can not fully describe. It is very intense because the wind screams loudly in your ears, and the pathwork quilt of fields beneath you gradually grows closer. You have to experience it for yourself.
For me, the parachuting was the most fun because we slowed from 120mph down to about 20mph, and we descended gracefully and more serenely. PJ swooped us skillfully through the sky and down towards the dropzone.
PJ told me that he thought that wearing ear plugs doesn't make much difference to reducing the volume of the wind noise during freefall, but if I were to do skydiving again, especially another tandem skydive, I would insert plugs just before the jump, or look into some other form of hearing protection. Maybe you will be just fine without them, and solo skydiving involves wearing a helmet, which can reduce the volume of the wind noise.
In summary, I would consider skydiving with Skydive Atlanta again because the set-up was superb....
Read moreNothing I'll say will adequately convey what doing this was like. Having always been enamored with skydiving I decided this would be my 52nd birthday present to myself. Most say it's a bucket list item but I've never had one. This has made me want to do somethings I've always dreamed of doing but put off. It was everything I thought it would be and more. All the reading, watching videos, etc. helps but you have to experience it for yourself. Everyone was absolutely fantastic including the people working on the ground. Thanks to the pilot Matt for getting me up there and to John my instructor I'll never be able to thank you enough. He was AWESOME!!! He was very thorough and answered all my questions, even those I asked more than once. Any anxiety I had was gone when we boarded the plane and my jump was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I know it must've felt like he was jumping with a pallet load of Oreos on his chest. It was over way too soon. He even took some of his own time after our jump to just talk. If you've always wanted to do it or just wondered what it would be like all I can say is you're cheating yourself if you don't do it at least once. Coming home and doing laundry just isn't where it's at. I'll never look at the sky the same again. They say you only live once but you only die once. Live everyday to the...
