Branding Iron — Local services in Thompson

I hesitate to comment, because locals ADORE this place. I guess it's because there aren't that many steak places around. Steak is not my thing, so I ordered scallops. My son had the fried shrimp. Daughter had fettuccine alfredo. Husband had cod, and other son had a sirloin. The steak looked like it was cooked perfectly. Husband said it was good (he tried it, too). Husband got 2 fillets with his cod dinner. Said he would've appreciated a third piece of fish.

Salad bar was included with every meal. It was good -- nice selection of foods, and it was pretty fresh (we arrived as they opened the doors at 5). With the usual salad accoutrements, there were macaroni and pasta salads on the salad bar, accompanied by fruit, cottage cheese, and chocolate mousse (which was fabulous). Minestrone was also included with the salad bar.

The fettuccine alfredo didn't have a lot of taste, so we didn't bother bringing her leftovers home. My scallops were the biggest disappointment of the meal -- they were a bit small (not sure what they're used to here in the midwest, but the biggest ones were about 1 inch in diameter), and half of each one had the consistency of rubber. And on top of some of them had been sprinkled some lemon pepper seasoning. Like straight off the shelf at Walmart seasoning. That was kind of yucky.

My son's fried butterfly shrimp were very good. I'd rather they just didn't offer scallops if they aren't comfortable preparing them.

That was a steep bill for decent food. I'll argue against it if the family wants to go there again. We all drank water only, and the bill was about $100...

The Mother’s Day buffet was the worst food I have ever had at a buffet. Not to mention that it was Mother’s Day. I was charged $18.00 for my 2 daughter’s who were 10 and under, which is not what was advertised in the newspaper. For a family of 5 it was $90.00 total. They were out of ham, the chicken was cold and stale, the sweet corn was over ripe and the deserts were nothing special for an $18.00 per person meal. The person who picked up our plates spilled a cup of water on the table but never came back to wipe it up. There were 2 little kids (approximately 8 years old) filling pop at the bar and coughing in the pop. When I called to report that I was overcharged for our meals, I was told “hold on there - we received nothing but compliments.” The manager gave the phone to a waitress who asked my name. When I spelled my first name, which has other variations. She replied with “I know how to spell that name!” She then hung up before I was finished talking to her! No apologies… no costumer service! I have never experienced a worse meal or...

5/5, 10/10, 15/15, this Restaurant has been the best I’ve ever reviewed, our family of four had two of the Saturday special BBQ Ribs, a Prime Rib, and Ribeye Steak, a large amount great food, with Tremendous Texas Toast. The Salad Bar had any desirable salad option you could have with, along with a Vegetable Beef Soup that they did not skimp out on, on the Salad bar they also had Chocolate Fluff. The Servers and Staff were all very welcoming, attentive, kind, and generous. Everything went smoothly with multiple checks on how our food was and if we’d need anything else. They even let my younger son take home a monstrous amount of fluff, a whole plates worth. One of the Greatest Places I’ve Ever Eaten at. Will absolutely be coming back, I recommend everyone one go for family events, parties, and social gatherings as they can accommodate everything to your need. 5/5,...
