Title: Disgusting Lack of Empathy and Service at Toledo Gold Exchange
I had the unfortunate experience of visiting the Toledo Gold Exchange recently, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. As a visitor from out of town, I found myself in a desperate situation with nowhere to stay and no money in hand. Hoping to exchange some items for a bit of cash to get through the night, I arrived at the Toledo Gold Exchange with just 15 minutes to spare before closing time.
To my dismay, instead of receiving the assistance and understanding I desperately needed, I was met with utter contempt and apathy from the manager. Despite my situation being explained, they callously refused to even entertain the idea of helping me out, turning me away without a second thought. Did I mention it's pouring rain outside? And I just walked from the train station over here. Sweating wet desperate.
The complete lack of compassion and basic human decency displayed by the manager is beyond appalling. A business that claims to serve the community should at least have the decency to assist someone in such dire circumstances, especially when they have the means to do so.
In the end, I was left stranded, with no place to go and no means to provide for myself, all thanks to the manager who the his associate would have to make the final call. He mentioned having to stay late if it meant assisting me. Thanks, unsympathetic staff at Toledo Gold Exchange. I urge anyone considering doing business with them to think twice, as they clearly prioritize their bottom line over the well-being of those in need.
Avoid this place at all costs if you value even a shred of humanity in the businesses you support.
Update 10/29/24
In response to your reply, I understand it was about 15 minutes to closing, and you had a customer at the time with another clerk available. The other clerk deferred to you to decide if you could assist me or would prefer not to risk staying late. I was truly in a difficult situation, and though it’s in the past now, it was unfortunate that you chose not to help. My request would have taken only five minutes, as I had just two items for grading and a quote. I would have accepted any offer simply to ensure I could eat...
Read moreDon't waste your time with this place if you're trying to sell gold bars. They offered $1850 a troy oz on 99.99% gold bars when spot price was sitting at ~$2650. I even called ahead to ask what price they pay under spot for the exact bars I wanted to sell and was told 80-90% of spot price depending on the item. Their offer was basically 70% spot price. The two guys behind the counter were struggling hard to multiply spot price by 2 and multiply that by the percent they pay. If you can't handle basic algebra maybe you shouldn't be in the precious metals game. They also wanted to remove the gold from the tamper proof assay cases to test it. It's not like I brought in a gold teenage mutant ninja turtle statue. They're bars from a well known mint that I purchased from a well known dealer have receipts for. I've bought and sold a decent amount of gold and silver and never had someone want to remove a tamper proof case to test it. The guy helping me also seemed genuinely surprised I knew what spot price was. Laughable offer. Don't bother doing business with them if you're looking to sell. You're better off selling on eBay, an online exchange, private sale, or a...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place to pawn or sell something Toledo Gold Exchange is definitely the place to go. Ross was amazing and at no point did I feel as though judgement was being passed on me, which is rare when going to a pawn shop. I was offered a fair price at an understandable rate. You are given a 90 daay grace period & unfortunately I well exceeded the 90 day grace period due to unforeseen circumstances. I was honestly worried that the 2 pieces I took a loan out on would he far gone. However, I was fortunately wrong! They stop receiving payments & allowing pickups at 5 p.m. on Saturdays & I arrived at 5:25 p.m. I called the number, Ross answered & told me to come on in. He quickly retrieved my information & my 2 pieces. I paid the amount borrowed along with the interest & I was on my way. I must say I was truly impressed & greatly appreciative! Thank you so much for genuinely caring & for having compassion for people during their...
