These 5 stars are questionable. This place was a neat find a few years ago but has really gone downhills and is neither thrifty nor safe. Twice now Ive had creepy experiences, one involving the owner and a guy high out of his mind who was being extremely aggressive towards me. The owner was not reassuring as the guy seemed to be a friend of his. This was probably two years ago so I gave it another chance.
My final visit was also bad -- again, creepy dude following me around the place. That's obviously not the owners fault but they seem ok with patrons like this and I had to wait a while for him to figure out how to leave to avoid being outside with him.
As far as the prices go-- they used to be fantastic to maybe overlook a one of bad encounter but now it's not even in line with a thrift store. Most of the stuff is junky and dirty but priced like an upcycled or antique store. Those places at minimum wipe off the grease before pricing high.

He sold me a bunch of my favorite (ALF) collectibles for such an awesome price! He has customer appreciation day, every last Friday, of the month!! He gives everyone free food and discounts, that day. I found unopened Beavis and Butthead playing cards for $.99 a Vintage Dickies outfit for $8.00 a vintage black light for $6.00 a True Blood box set for $2.00.. mint condition wcw magazines for $.99 😲 YAY! Love it! California Raisins t shirt!! You can’t beat that price! I love to especially shop here for gifts for others!! People will ask me “where do you find such cool stuff?!” I reply with.. “CHARLIE’S .. always” He’s really down to earth and the store is a lot of fun! I’m so glad I found this place! Read moreIf you like to shop at second hand stores, this one is a must! Charlie's on South Topeka Boulevard is of one of a kind place. It is very comfortable and relaxing. It is a family-oriented establishment and the man who runs Charlie's is a a very knowledgeable and kind person. You really got to go out there to see what he's got. His prices are very reasonable as well. There is something for everyone. There are things from storage totes to nails and screws to furnace filters to old dolls to handmade jewelry, old watches, clothes, toys, antique furniture, etc. You just need to go to appreciate everything that he has for sale. There are so many hidden gems! Charlie's inventory changes daily so you never know what you're going to find ! ! There is so much to see, you can spend all day out there and still not see everything.
