Badding Farm Market and Garden Center — Local services in Town of Amherst

I went there first time to check if they have any uncommon clematis varieties, it turns out they have none, but a mandevilla vine caught my eye. So I brought the mandevilla to the register and asked the woman if the plant has any guarantee or warranty, she said no. I ask if it is just for this plant or any plant, she answered they do not give guarantee or warranty to any of their plants. I pointed out to her there are yellow spots on the leaves and also the new shoots are dropping leaves, the plant is clearly under stress. She said to me with a smirk: they look healthy enough to me, you do not have to buy it. I was quite surprise to the answer and respond: Most of the nursery and garden center would give some sort of guarantee, I do not think it is an out of line question. She said to me again: you do not have to buy it.

I was stunned and went home. After I went home, I told my neighbor about it. She called them asking about their guarantee, the same woman waited on me told my neighbor that they do not give guarantees on their plants, but if a plant does not make it it can be returned and they might offer a discount on another plant. Evidently, they skipped the second half to me, possibly on purpose, given I already voiced my concerns at the register. I am not born here and I have an accent, my neighbor is born and raised here. I would rather not to think it is true, but they are treating customers with different skin colors differently. Especially given there are so many high reviews here, assuming those are real.

Although I always like to support local business and family business, but not sure how could their high price/no guarantee business...

So happy a friend recommended Badding Bros to me! Their online order with curbside pickup has been a serious lifesaver when it comes to social-distancing boredom fixers. Of course that means I've been back multiple times and my houseplant collection is growing bi-weekly but is that really a downside?? Also a plus is their next level staff.
