We were welcomed to Meatski's by a counter worker asking why people from southern WI are in Crivitz hunting. We took my brothers 260lb sow there to be skinned and processed. It was killed at noon and to the shop by 315 on a Friday afternoon. It was 55-60 degrees and overcast the day it was shot. The following week the manager called and said the meat had gone sour and we need to take better care of our kill. His excuse was the bear went bad from running with dogs... Then it was because it was shot up...then it was because we didn't rinse out the cavity...Each time he talked to the manager the excuse changed. Come to find out the bear was left in the cooler, hide on until Monday or Tuesday before it was skinned. The sow had 4-6" of fat and with the cape it slowly cooked itself for 4 or 5 days. After waiting 11 years for a tag, having this happened is sickening. Within the hunting group, there was nearly a century of bear hunting experience and never dealt with something like this. After reading the 1 star reviews I would highly discourage hunters from taking wild game...
Read moreJust got half a cow and hog processed here, LOVE the meat wrapped in paper as opposed to the vacuum sealed bags! They did a great job wrapping the meat and would recommend you have your meat processed here HOWEVER, when placing the order make sure they read the order back to you to ensure you receive what you asked for. We did not do that and ended up with 30 pounds of brats instead of having the meat put into breakfast links, ground pork and brats. Lesson learned and passing it on to you to save you the aggravation, we could not do anything about the mix up because we were never charged for the two missing processes. We will be going back again but will be placing the order in person to ensure...
Read moreOkay place. I stop here a few times a year to get meat sticks. But they are not like they were years ago when I used to stop a lot more. Not sure what has changed, but the meat sticks seem like they are nothing as they were long ago. This weekend I stopped by anyway and got cheddar cheese meat sticks but there is very little cheddar in then. Not enough to taste for sure. If it were not for occasional bit of orange color I would assume they were plain and packaged wrong. 012725 I think is the batch number. And like everything, prices have gone up but $12.99 a lb for meat sticks is now out of range for a road trip snack. Maybe some years ago they got new owners, but for me a once good thing is no...
