About two weeks ago, late afternoon I had an urgent situation with water leaking profusely from the sight glass of my steam boiler. Ulysses was the technician on call and he was very courteous and efficient. He removed the sight glass and stopped the water leakage that was running down into the furnace. He found that one end of the sight glass was broken which could not be replaced at that time as he still had two more emergency calls after mine and it was after 6pm. However, he made sure that the boiler was still functioning and that I had heat. The follow up call a week later was performed by technician AJ who was also very courteous and efficient. He had about 4 hours worth of work which included removing the water and pressure from the flooded steam system, replacing the site glass along with the shut off valves and cleaning out the sediment. He also added a more efficient mixing valve so that I could adjust the hot water easier. This was such a great improvement because I had a difficult time adjusting the hot water and it was always scalding. I also had an extremely unbalanced heat distribution, the upstairs was unbearably hot while the downstairs was much colder which has been for years (I thought it was normal since heat rises) along with extremely loud radiators from the flooded system. After AJ’s expertise, the hot water is safer, overall temperature of the house is more balanced and the house is much quieter. I am very grateful to both of these gentlemen and highly...
Read moreBought a house two years ago in the Beaverkill. Silverman had been the technician the previous owner used to maintenance the furnace, so we followed suit. When our furnace was having issues, AJ came to our rescue on a Saturday evening in the middle of a snow storm. As polite and responsive as he was on the phone, he was even better in person. He walked us through the issue and everything he was doing to figure out the problem. He was always patient with my questions and took his time. Despite additional house calls that would keep him working through the night, he never rushed. When asked about driving through this weather, he said that people needed to be helped and he was going to do what he could. Even after he fixed the problem, he took his time to make sure everything was working smoothly. He had incredible knowledge of the system and told us what likely caused the problem and how to prevent it going forward. He cleaned the congealed oil and told us the filter we needed to have. He even checked in with us the next day. A consummate professional and an expert in his field. I will call Silverman when I have a future problem, secretly hoping AJ is on-call.

Read moreI can't say enough about how great the service is at Silverman! I came home Sunday late afternoon to a flooded basement. The relief valve on my pressure tank blew out and made a mess after I tried to bump up the pressure a little. I called Steve, left a message on the emergency line and got a call back in a minute or two. Rather than send a guy or crew out unessesaraly he took the time to walk me through everything I had done wrong (he hit the nail on the head everytime) in an hour I had running water back in the house. Fast forward to Monday morning and my water pressure was still very low. I wasn't about to adjust the pressure again so I called Steve back and asked for a guy I've exhausted all my "know how". Again Steve hit the nail on the head. He said " did you check the screens on everything?" I check the screens and sure enough they were as dirty as can be. Steve had all the opportunity to to charge us for a Sunday emergency and didn't. He was more than happy to share his knowledge and save us several hundred dollars.
Thank you Steve! You've gained a...
