—Updated after business responded dishonestly—
A bunch of machines were broken, the stout guy at the counter didn’t take enough targets off of the tab, when I went in to fix the issue I was met with anger and he told me he couldn’t fix it and wouldn’t fix it. When I expressed my frustration and informed the next group to check their bill closely, he told me not to return. Thats ok with me, no loss.
Update, to clarify their response to this review. My girlfriend and I shot 220 times total. The key recorded 285 targets released by the machines, that’s a 65 target difference. You brought the bill down to 255 clays which still wasn’t appropriate, so I asked for a correction of 35 clays NOT 100 I will reiterate, I asked for a correction of 35 clays, not 100 clays. What’s the price of that ? About 20$ ? It’s about the principal of your ethics.
You were insistent that you’d do nothing to remedy the situation, you were very rude, what would be my incentive to return to your business ? Especially after you told me not to return.
You’ve got a very cool property but it needs to be rebuilt as a sporting clays range, update your machines, and work on your attitude and you’d be successful.
Last note, your Facebook says you are long islands only public sporting clays range, you aren’t. And you claim to have the cheapest ammo, you don’t, yours is 110$ per case, it can be bought for 95-98$ in many places, that’s not a big deal,...
Read moreSo an update to my review it's probably the best shotgun range if you want to just go there with a group and shoot but I bought my own skeet thrower after an experience where I and several other people were shooting 18.5" barrel shotguns not bothered but someone (a person I don't know) went there with a pistol grip shotgun that had a full stock and they turned him down asked him to leave because his shotgun was too tactical. This was a few years ago, i shoot skeet and trap all the time, that was very rude. Now I mostly just goto calverton. If there was something about them not wanting 18" barrels at the time it would have made sense but there wasn't and they said my wooden 870 was fine with a 18" barrel. It's rude to turn someone down for something as simple as him just having a pistol grip and synthetic black furniture on a legally owned shotgun.
Aside from that it's a great range and I recommend probably only godo skeet range anywhere around long island. I just prefer bringing my own equipment to calverton so I don't have to worry about my shotguns not being up to their standards which they make a decision I guess what is allowed. Back in the day like 5+ years ago they let you shoot whatever as long as it was legal and state compliant. Calverton you can bring whatever you want as long as it's legal and...
Read moreI had a frustrating experience on a Sunday when trying to retrieve my license. After forgetting it the previous day, I returned to the store hoping to get it back. The person at the register was unhelpful and had a notably poor attitude. He checked the register briefly and said my license wasn’t there, insisting that it’s the only place where lost licenses are kept.
When I asked if he could contact the staff from the previous day to see if my license might be elsewhere, he refused, saying he didn’t know who was working and wouldn’t make an effort to find out. It felt like he wasn’t interested in helping at all. With staff like this (person working on Sunday, the person working on Saturday was very helpful), it's clear that such negative attitudes and lack of customer service will have a negative impact on...
