First and foremost, there was absolutely no social distancing. The lines were packed and long, it was shoulder to shoulder. Completely crowded! I felt extremely uncomfortable. Secondly, I saw lots of people without masks. The food workers in the food trucks were also not wearing masks when preparing my food, I ended up not eating it. The table where you would get ketchup, sauce etc was completely disgustingly dirty! The tables where you sit to eat were also unsanitary and dirty. It was gross I have to say! To continue, on the website it says not recommended for anyone under the age of 10, although the attractions weren’t even scary! The attractions would absolutely be okay for little kids, although, I think the real reason they put “not recommend for anyone under the age of 10” is because this event is more of a social gathering/hangout for teens and young adults. There were kids smoking, using profanity almost everywhere you go, not to mention there was absolutely no social distancing enforced. Not even pieces of tape on ground to keep people 6ft distance from one another in line! These aspects are the things that make this event not kid friendly, not the fact that it’s “too scary”! Also, like I said the attractions itself weren’t so great. The experience was more so walking through a dark decorated haunted houses but there wasn’t many actors that jumped out and actually “scared” you. There was a chainsaw man walking around outside the attraction area, but there were none in the attractions itself! What kind of haunted house doesn’t have a good old chainsaw man jumping out at you when you least expect it???? Another huge complaint was that my group of people immediately would run into the group ahead of us. Another thing that freaked me out because I wanted to social distance the most I could and it took away the fun of the experience of exploring the haunted houses on our own. The only good thing was that they had candy apples and it was really good. I’m gonna be quarantining for the next two weeks after this one! Also, if you want to go to a good haunted attraction that have multiple haunted houses in one, I recommend going to “Night Terrors Haunted Farm” In Schoharie NY. I’ve gone every year for the last 3 years excepts this one! It’s really fun and actually gets you “scared”. The attractions are...
Read moreWow. Talk about scary. This is the best haunted attraction in the Capital Region by far (see my review of Double M).
The one downside about this place is the LINES, LINES and more LINES. For reference, we arrived at 7 pm and didn't leave until 11pm on a middle of October Saturday night. However, this was worth the wait. There are actors who scare you while you are waiting in line too.
At Field of Horrors there are 5 attractions and you can do them in any order you would like. May I suggest the following order: Mummy - Scare Factor 2/5 Toxic - Scare Factor 2/5 Haunted Hayride - Scare Factor 4/5 Insanity - Scare Factor 5/5 Death Maze - Scare Factor 5/5
Insanity and Death Maze were by far the highlights of the night (don't want to ruin the surprise but trust me, these are great). If you can, see if you can go through Insanity a second time because of the way it is structured (maze) there is almost no line by the end of the night. Mummy and the Hayride will have the longest line (40 minutes+). The Mummy one, you hold a flashlight which makes the attraction slow. The other lines are closer to 20 minutes each. On average, I would say you spend 15-25 minutes in each attraction, and definitely be prepared to get scared or surprised.
The setup of the attractions are great. I love that there is a variety of food and tables for while you are taking a break between attractions (or maybe one friend waits on the line for attractions while the other friends pick up the food). I thought the actual props were very good and the costumes were above average. The haunted hayride was probably the most impressive prop/actor wise - the hayride is fairly long and the set is non-stop impressive. I love the fact that actors come on the wagon and that they are constantly scaring from all directions.
Overall I had a great time and I am considering going back AGAIN this season because...
Read moreThe attractions were decent. It was all good fun. Lines get extremely long and the tickets are pricey. All things I was ok with. What I wasn’t ok with was after standing in line over 45 minutes for the 5th attraction we went into, two female staff decided it was ok to follow us through the haunted house, absolutely ruining our experience. I bought 3 tickets, one for myself and my two teenage boys, my mother bought herself a ticket so between the for of us $160. When I brought the issue to the front staff, I was met with a basic “all well” attitude and a we can’t do anything about it response. We left before finishing the 6th and final attraction, I was appalled by the treatment. $160 is not a small fee, for your staff to ruin our experience. I emailed them the next morning hoping they would make it right. Nope, my email has been ignored. We will be excluding them from our Halloween experience in the coming years. I get it, why worry about one customer when there are so many, right? EDIT: wish I had read reviews before going instead of when I came to write my own. Not only for the customer reviews but for the insight the attraction owners response gives. They obviously do not care. Everyone either receives an “all well” auto generated response or an “who cares what you say, we’re rated #1 one” response. It actually makes sense that I’ve gotten no response to fix the damage their staff caused for us. They do not care. That supposed and likely self given #1 title can easily be changed. People spend money where they are...
