This was our first time staying with Postcard Cabins, and it was everything I expected and more! My boyfriend and I drove up from PA for a surprise birthday trip, and my boyfriend had no clue where we were going. The moment we pulled up he was in awe and eternally grateful to see the cabins are fitted with A/C. I was immediately impressed with the warm ambiance of the strung Edison light bulbs, hanging above our picnic table, as well as the cozy fire pit and hammock nearby. They were exactly the intimate touches I wanted and worth the extra money. It was so thoughtful how the hammock was flipped over, so it wouldnāt get covered in falling debris.
Self checkin was effortless, especially since the door code was my birthday! Not sure if that was coincidence or by design, but either way it was effortless. The moment we entered the cabin, my boyfriend was instantly blown away. His reaction was reminiscent of a child at Christmas commenting, āThis is awesome!ā Immediately we were taken with a spectacular grand window looking out at nature, fluffy queen size bed, free Wi-Fi, the small kitchen stacked with all the plates, pans and instruments one might need, including complementary hot chocolate, coffee, and a pack of the most delicious sāmoreās Iāve ever tasted! Thereās even a thoughtful little prepackaged sponge with dish soap above the sink, and below the sink was a giant roll of foil, small dustpan and broom, an extra paper towels.
In the bathroom, we were impressed by the Kohler toilet, stainless steel shower fitted with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, as well as extra towels, so donāt bring your own. Upon checking out, I accidentally turned on the heat, and the cabin warmed up nicely in seconds. This cabin would make for an amazing winter vacation as well.
If you plan on driving to nearby Kaaterskill Falls, itās a bit of a drive but well worth it! When we drove there the first parking lot was full, but if you continue driving down the road, thereās a second parking lot called Scutt available. From there you can take a hiking trail to view the colossal Kaaterskill Falls. You may be left sweating from the hike, but the sensational views and cool breeze will be worth it. If youāre feeling extra daring, you can bring your bathing suit and go for a dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls.
Through Postcard Cabins, everything was so thoughtfully planned out to the tiniest detail, and it really makes for a turn-key vacation. All you really need to bring are a change of clothes, because thereās even a well stocked grocery store nine minutes away. And if you have any questions, a customer service representative is in constant communication with you via text or call. Our representative Lee, was most helpful in assisting us with our quality and complimentary fire wood! All in all, we would highly recommend Postcard Cabins, and Iām already planning next years...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI felt prompted to leave a review after seeing some recent negative ones that had made me a little nervous before our stayābut Iām so glad we went!
First off, I had requested early check-in. Postcard handles most communication via text (like letting you know your cabin number and door code the day of). I wasnāt sure if Iād get a response, but I replied to their text requesting early check-in, and they got back to me quickly and allowed it, which was great since we were already in the area.
When we arrived, the door code didnāt work at first, but I texted and they responded within minutes and fixed it right away. Their responsiveness was honestly excellent throughout.
The cabins are spaced a decent distance apart. You can definitely see other cabins, and our nearest neighbor (once someone checked in) was close enough that they probably couldāve heard us talking, but it didnāt affect our enjoyment. You can see in the photo how far away that cabin was when looking out our window.
One small note: behind that cabin was another one with string lights, and at night we could see them glowing even from our bed. It wouldāve been nice if it were fully dark, but it wasnāt a big deal.
The cabins themselves were amazing! Theyāre small but have everything you need. The A/C cooled the space down nicely, and the shower pressure and hot water were surprisingly luxurious. There were so many thoughtful touchesālike included firewood and starters, dog treats and snacks, and even a long dog run cable to clip our pupās leash to.
The entire experience was just what we needed: peaceful, restorative, and super comfortable. The location is quiet and beautiful, and while you feel tucked away, thereās a grocery store about 15 minutes away where we stocked up.
One note: the A/C does cycle on and off with a bit of noise (as most do), but it didnāt bother us at all.
Yes, the price is a bit on the higher side, but once you're there, everything is taken care of and you really get to relax. Just make sure to bring food to cook!
I do wish there were an option to choose your cabin location when booking. (I donāt believe any Postcard properties currently allow this.) There were a few vacant cabins during our stay that seemed more ideally locatedātucked away with string lights and a bit more privacyābut overall our site was still lovely.
Overall, weād absolutely do this again. We had a wonderful time, and it was worth every penny for how restful and peaceful it was. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is truthfully more like 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 4 given the responsiveness of the crew at this location.
TLDR: Beautiful cabin and surroundings. Crew is very responsive and kind on text and phone helplines, but booking was very messy and there were power outages multiple times during our stay.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Joyce cabin from 6/18-6/22 and overall enjoyed our stay, but there were several hiccups that I feel like could have been improved on. When we booked our cabin, we did so through our credit card's travel portal given we had lots of points. This stay would have likely been overpriced had we paid completely out of pocket for it. Due to the Marriott acquisition, we had a lot of trouble actually confirming our stay as we were told multiple times leading up to our stay that there was no reservation on file, and then there was a reservation on file... and then when we were driving there and I called, they still said there was no reservation on file until they realized that the reservation's name had been kept under the travel agent's name and not ours, causing all the mixup. Luckily they figured it out and were SUPER nice about it, but given the fact that I had already confirmed via phone and email that my reservation was in fact confirmed 3 weeks before we drove in, that made for a super stressful car ride LOL.
The cabin itself is super cute and cozy, with everything you need for a nice rustic stay. The bed is comfy, the appliances are new, and we loved sitting by the fireplace at night grilling hot dogs and smores. The surrounding Catskills region is great and we loved hiking, the food scene was surprisingly good, and there are tons of vineyards and cute towns (Rhinebeck, Woodstock) nearby to walk around. That being said, 2 out of the 4 days we stayed there there were power outages lasting hours at a time. On one day all power was gone (no water, electricity, etc), and on the second day water was gone. They don't sent alerts to their guests until you text them confused at 8am when you can't flush your toilet LOL. The crew responds quickly and are super nice and helpful, and our stay was still great, but there are definitely some things on the management side that could...
