This is usually my favorite store in Rouses Point because all of the employees are so friendly and go out of their way to provide good customer service. Not at my last visit though.
I needed ear wash for my cat and was told by an associate taking merchandise inside for the night when I got out of my vehicle that they were to close in 2 minutes. They were open until 9pm last I knew but the associate said the hours had changed a month ago to an 8pm close time. I didn’t mention that it was only 755pm by my phone.
Initially, I was going to just come back the next day and took a few steps toward my car but thought better of waiting since I was concerned for my cat’s ear comfort. I knew the exact item and location of the ear wash and that the transaction could have been completed in the 2 minutes she said was left before close. But as I walked back toward her and tried to tell her I know exactly what I want and where it is so I will be in and out in 2 minutes she rudely interrupted me in a nasty tone and said, “ Hurry up, Im closing in 1 minute,” without even listening to me. So I just said forget it, thanks for the awesome customer service and left.
As a person who has worked retail and plenty of food server jobs, I know it is part of these types of jobs that on occasion you have to stay a little past closing to finish up sales, close out the register, or maybe serve food to people that ordered near closing. That’s part of the job when you are scheduled to close. Too bad this associate doesn’t seem to know that and feels okay being nasty to customers because she might have lock the door a minute or two late.
Alternatively they could have politely said something like I’m sorry I have to close the register in two minutes but if you can get what you need in that time I’d be glad to help you.
Not tap their watch and rudely say hurry up. I don’t expect stores to stay open late just for me but I do expect friendly polite service regardless especially when I am being polite and friendly to you.    Read moreThis store is very well maintained. Everything is always in the correct place, nothing is ever out of stock, etc. The staff are always helpful and friendly. It's never too busy here, so the line(s) for the register(s) is/are never too long, and you can actually move around in the store.
