I avoid it at all cost. I only go there if it's an emergency item and I'm willing to pay 2 to 3 dollars more per item at Mayville Tops Market than anywhere else. Seriously, the selection is already poor and then to have to pay so so much more than anywhere else adds salt to the wound The selection is middle at best down to low grade choices.... The lowest being the Top's brand Which I consider equal to Great Value brand.
Ale after aisle of processed food. Canned goods, cereals, junkie frozen meals. To try to find something like healthy bread...no way. Try to find fresh produce. Not a chance. The best you're going to get is prepackaged high priced spring mix. Rotten avocados, rotten potatoes wilted lettuce Etc. I never grocery shop ... Just picking up a last-minute recipe spice or something like that. I do zero out of their deli...even their deli case...HARD NO. Used to like their fried chicken which I don't see anymore and was willing to eat it since it was fried. Ordered some for a gathering and when we opened it it was black. I'm sure they fried it the night before and intended to just reheat it before they sent it out the door. It was over 100 pieces.... Embarrassing and twice overcooked. Spoke to manager to no avail. More money wasted at Tops.
Then be prepared to check yourself out. Either zero or perhaps one cashier lane open. It's exhausting and depressing to go there. Keep driving unless you have low requirements and money to burn.... No other grocery stores except other Tops unless you drive a minimum of 20 minutes. If there was ,trust me, Tops...

Summer season we stay on Chautauqua Lake so today I came to the Mayville Tops. Will probably be the last time. While at the deli - I had to wait for Kalle to get done what ever she was doing needle she even recognized there was a costumer. When she did come over to wait on my - no can I help you- no nothing she just looked at me. So I just looked back - finally she said hi and I order. Of course no thank you. Then I went to check out - no one at the register, but the light was on. Chris finally mosied up to the register. I did purchase the but 2 get 3 free 12 packs of Coke products. I asked if i.had to put it all on the belt and was told yes. I am 65 yrs old and they are heavy for me - neither he nor the packer both in theor 20's offered to help. I think your staff needs some training on dealing...
Read moreI actually give this store a complete zero in the Mayville New York area. I stopped in there on my way through town with a friend to buy some lunch, I am on food stamps and I went to go pay for my items and the cash register only took the partial payment from food stamps. I asked the cashier why it said that and didn't take the full amount if she said the only thing she could think of was the cold sub that I was trying to buy. By the end of my ordeal at this tops they told me to leave and they were not going to honor my food stamps. That to me sounds like a very prejudiced small community of rich stuck up snobs. So if you are on food stamps or possibly even WIC do not frequent the Mayville...
