Alex was recommended to me by a friend who used her for her own wedding the year before. The best way to initially get in contact with her is to call/text since her online form didn’t work for me. Alex did an amazing job as a seamstress and fitting my dress to my body shape. She is a perfectionist when it comes to adding details and finishing the bustle so it compliments with movement. The first two photos are me trying on the dress at NY Bride. I knew I wanted to add subtle details like a belt but my vision wasn't clear. Third photo is at my first appointment with her as she gives me an idea of what she would do and tell me the cost. You have to pay all upfront. I’ve never gone to a seamstress before to have a dress 2-3 sizes bigger tailored for me. I did not get another quote from someone else due to my timeline (and I’m so glad I went with her!). Expect to pay a lot more than you think especially because she is making you a custom wedding dress. I bought different beading to bring in to show Alex for my dress. She had the idea of using beading on the straps, too! I bought the silver beading off Etsy (be sure to buy 2-3” more for your waist and I ordered extra for my straps). All credit to Alex for the idea of softening it with the small side pearls and tiny beads. Images 7-12 are the final images. Alex is a dress maker and designer. She has a great eye to make the dress compliment you. I had about 4 total visits with her and the second to last was to decide on the bustle. I didn’t get a great photo of it but it moves/flows beautifully as I walk. She made a good point that the bustle should be beautiful because after the ceremony, the dress will be bustled for the rest of the night! I would give zero stars if I could. Alex completely butchered my dress and when she admitted she did a bad job she said she would only give me a refund if I deleted my original bad review. I’ve been waiting two months for her to pay me back and she keeps putting it off saying she’s waiting to get the money. Her excuse was that she was sick but she had my dress for months and I’m pretty sure she knew she wasn’t doing a good job. She has just been completely unprofessional and sketchy about this whole thing. Like you don’t have $800 to give back to me? I had to take my dress to a new tailor who couldn’t believe the state Alex left my dress in and I already paid her to fix it and have to pay a photographer to retake my photos after my actual wedding. She left a ton of extra fabric so it hangs off me and you can’t see my actual waist line after I worked hard to lose weight. She left giant folds in it and it doesn’t lay flat on me and the waist is too high up. Alex even zipped my veil into my wedding dress bag so when I opened it on my wedding day it tore the veil. And she still hasn’t paid me back. I am going to have to take her to small claims court. Don’t go here, go to Alterations Plus. I found Alex when looking to get my wedding dress altered. As someone who does not wear dresses much, I was worried I would be tripping all over and constantly pulling the strapless top up. Immediately meeting with Alex, she made me excited for the process and was a complete sweetheart. Not only did she get my dress perfect for moving around in, but the corset she built inside kept me snug and secure the entire evening. After discussing bustle types, she gave me her recommendation of which best suited my dress and provided a well instructed demonstration how to secure it properly so my girls would be able to follow along that day. After now getting my wedding photos back, I am so glad I went with her recommendations- the details of my dress were not lost. I am sad for my bridesmaids who went to bridal store chains for alterations that did not have a good experience and were really upset the way their dresses fit after pickup. If I could go back, I would’ve had them all come with myself and my mother (who also was pleased with her alterations) to Alex, but I will make sure ongoing that I let everyone know- this is who to go to if you want someone who...
