We recently purchased a wood stove insert from Northeastern Fireplace and had them install it in our living room. This was replacing a 2-year old gas stove purchased and installed from another company. In addition to installing our new Morso 5660 wood stove insert with an electric blower attachment, Billy and Frank from Northeastern moved the gas stove to our basement and installed it there. We began with an onsite assessment in late January 2015 and we received a written estimate for all the work via email the very next day. We had a second onsite visit and estimate, which took 3 weeks while Northeastern took only a few days. Northeastern’s estimate was far more reasonable and they needed only 3-5 days to order the new insert, receive it and set up an install date once they received our 50% deposit. Billy and Frank were a pleasure to have around the house. On day 1, they had the new wood stove installed and a fire roaring in the fireplace. They were 90% finished with the re-installation of the Valor Gas Stove in the basement and came back as planned 2 days later to complete that process. The first day they were here from 9 am to 4 pm and on the second visit they were here less than 3 hours. They patched the wall in the living room where the wooden mantel had been and fired up the gas stove in the basement on that second day. Billy explained that our gas fireplace installation 2 years prior (different company) had been botched and that was why the Valor was unreliable – often the fire going out after a few hours due to the fact that the chimney insulation was incorrectly positioned and choked off the air from the intake liner. In addition, Frank will be back to repair our chimney which the prior company had not mentioned needed major work. We would trust Northeastern with our lives – they kept to their estimate and work schedules, were honest about all work performed and kept us informed as they did their work. Billy and Frank were fun and loved our dog, did great work and perfect finishing work as well and in general Northeastern are just a great bunch to work with. NORTHEASTERN FIREPLACE AND CHIMNEY SHOULD BE THE ONLY MASON COMPANY YOU CONSIDER HIRING! Unfortunately, I first hired a different local Mason , and it quickly became a nightmare. They damaged our roofand property, permanently blocked our chimney with broken block, flue liner and mortar, used the wrong size block , left gaps between siding and chimney that they filled with cans and cans of caulk that looked hideous, and left the flashing so badly done that animals (bats) and rain could get in. I had to take the 1st company to court and of course I won the case, thank God. NOW THE GOOD NEWS! NORTHEASTERN CAME TO OUR RESCUE. I only wished we had hired them first. I can't praise this company enough! They were with me from the 1st phone call when I called frantically called crying over what had happened to us to the final resolution. Brenda, in the office ,was so kind and assured me they would fix everything. She sent Johnny out who was very detail oriented. He took pictures and drone shots to document the horrible job that was done and also so they could quote me a fair price to redo everything and also add a stainless liner. Joe, the owner showed such compassion o er what we had been through and quoted us a very fair price. Over the months, waiting for my court case to be heard, I would keep Brenda abreast of what was going on each step of the way. I definitely feel this company treated me as cherished customer, almost like family even. Well today Northeastern's workers Austin and Doug came out and did an absolutely AMAZING JOB! The job was done properly,and it looks great! The Morso 8148 From Northeastern Fireplace

The reality is, I've hardly ever been happier with a purchase.

The installation was a bit tricky. The existing stack  was originally configured for a Scan stove. Scan went out of business and there was no obvious substitute. The pipe/flue could not be moved even a little without changing everything and spending thousands of dollars; finding a stove with specs that fit the configuration was time-consuming. Northeastern visited the site and validated the search.

Using a double-walled flue, the Morso only requires a three inch clearance to the wall behind it. It is the only stove in my price range that works code-wise and fits the space aesthetically. Morso may be the answer to a couple of thousand dollar question for others in the same situation.

I remember we installed in August.. or maybe September, and it was still warm outside.The stove was very difficult to start because there was no heat differential and it didn't draw. The two installers were, very professionally, concerned. It almost appeared like the stove didn't work. Their demeanor, was, "well, lets try to fix this"…. I was probably putting some pressure on them as I was skeptical, and nervous (it HAD to work!). They were brilliant in the friendly way they handled the situation and skillfully installed the stove.

Now that the weather is getting pretty cold out, the stove starts very easily. The firebox is large and easy to load; the stove's construction is solid and the design is clean. At night, the flames fill the large glass door, and as the stove sits high on a pedestal, are visible throughout the large living area. The flickering is very comforting.

Very rarely does it happen when everything you plan for is realized; and then some. I love it. It's probably the best buy I've made in a long time. The 8148 is wonderful and looks perfect in the...
