The Berkshires in western Massachusetts have many quaint communities to visit and places to see and hikes to do. Bash Bish Falls is one of the most popular sites for the nature enthusiast. It is the highest single drop waterfall in Massachusetts as it plunges 60 feet into a pool below. It's a must see if in the area and won't take a long time to do. When we were there in May, trail renovations had closed the trail from the MA access in Bash Bish Falls SP. Fortunately, another trail can be found from Taconic State Park in New York State near the town of Copake Falls. This hike is rated Moderate difficult, about 1.5 miles round-trip with a gradual climb along Bash Bish Brook. It tends to be a bit rocky and uneven, but still a very relaxing, scenic hike that most ppl can do. It's not conducive to wheelchairs and strollers though. FYI: The MA hike is considered Difficult since it's a strenuous trail over rugged terrain though only 0.6 miles round-trip. Toilets are available at the falls from Labor Day through Columbus Day. Access down to waters of the falls has been closed off, but great views can be had from the deck area. There is plenty of parking and no charge. The steep path is the Ma parking lot if open. The easyer path is the NY. No swimmimg,pickniking,fires including smoking. There is no fire equptment or hydrents. Trash barralls are in lots. Bring water,if its hot use the snack promice to get the kidsback to the car. Trash in and out. This is a wonderfuly clean park. Just keep picking up after your self. Dont go off path. Plenty of parking at the falls ny lot but its busy here. A LOT of visitors so always recommend arriving early. Porta pots on both ends of the trail which were clean and awelcomed addition...thank you! Falls are gorgeous,...
