My daughter was married at Camp Pontiac on September 7, 2024. I can't rave enough about the event and the staff, especially Howard and Ashley. These 2 worked tirelessly and seemingly 24/7 from Thursday night when we arrived through Sunday. They managed to greet all of our guests with a friendly smile and were everywhere answering questions, keeping the camp fire lit and just making sure a good time was had by all. Admittedly, my husband and I were a bit leary when our daugher and selected this venue, as we have quite a few elderly and physically challenged family members. But-- it was the most amazing weekend filled with nothing but love, laughter and joy. I can tell you that Howard and Ashley need more help! I don't think they slept at all because whenever I was walking around from early morning to late at night they were double timing it to help someone. Read moreThe people who run this place are absolutely horrible humans. They didn't plan for the lack of counselors and worked who they had to the bone, WITHOUT PAYING THEM EXTRA, let potential campers' families tour the place and ended up with a Covid outbreak, screamed at the hardworking counselors they had, fired those who complained about the double hours without fair compensation, canceled camper activities but still charged parents full-price, and now have left counselors stranded at airports because they didn't bother to get them there in time for their flights.
These people obviously care only about money, and they don't deserve yours.
ETA: The owner's son has serious anger issues. I would never send my young kids back to this place, and I would strongly suggest to my adult children that this isn't the place to work. Ask any counselor who worked there the summer of 2021, especially the many who were fired for complaining about double the work hours without compensation and those who stayed without promised bonuses being paid. This place needs to be stopped.
One counselor was fired for letting two campers use his phone after they texted their parents to be to be picked up because they...
