Who knew a place like this even existed in Westchester County!! Went with a couple of buddies to the pistol range and to trap field a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know about this spot - its a great find. Nice setting and they have everything - handgun, rifle, trap, skeet and archery. The prices are cheap ... I think it was 10 bucks for pistols and 11 or 12 a game for trap. That's 1/2 of what it would cost at indoor range like Blueline.
For the most part I don't get the comments about the RSOs being difficult - except for one guy - they RSO Jeff(?) at pistol were really helpful and got us set up with no problem. He gave a thorough but appropriate overview of the rules but totally. They've got make it safe for everyone and you have to respect that. Even provided some great shooting tips on grip and stance ... the guy is a pro and almost coming back to soak up some of his exp.
The trap field is really nice but I will say the guy running it was way over the top. I guess there were a couple of inexperienced people there and the guy went on and on about the rules and gun safety. I get it. I really do. But he must have spent 10 minutes about people shooting at their feet by accident and shells hitting people in the eye. It was almost a personal thing with him ... maybe something happened to him in the past. But this Johnny (?) the RSO really way beyond ... plus he kept stopping the game in the middle for what seemed like imaginary rule violations. I've been around guns my whole life and am pretty aware at the range but I have no idea what he was seeing that caused alarm.
IMO his hyper sensitivity to perceived safety violations made people a little nervous which had the effect of making the situation less safe rather than more. A twitchy RSO is not a good thing and he was twitchy
But all in all we had a great time at a really nice spot with the one exception a cool...
Read moreI've went here 4-5 times now, mostly with my father but i've gone solo once too recently. I mainly shoot at the large bore range with our 270 but sometimes take our .22 too. ALL of the staff have been more than just friendly and helpful. They fully sighted in our 270 for the large bore 100 yard range and even our little .22 as well. About a week ago I took the .22 there myself and tried out the small bore 50 yard range for the first time. Staff there was just as helpful, helped adjust my scope a few clicks and got me going safely. Nothing more I could ask for from these guys. Everyone is extremely knowledgable and fast to help out. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars, They've definitely earned it. Wether you're an experienced shooter or brand new to it with any caliber rifle or pistol, This is THE place to go. I'll definitely be back really soon. I love the clean and VERY friendly + helpful environment. I wish there were more ranges around like this awesome place. Try this place out if you...
Read moreEDIT: took a few trips recently and the attitude at large bore seems to have completely changed. Range masters present seemed much kinder and at ease. Also the target change was pretty quick. I can actually reccomend you visit the high power range and say you'll enjoy your time shooting.
Most of the ranges are great with very helpful staff who go above and beyond to help, inform, and make your experience nothing less than great. The large bore range is the complete opposite. You feel the "holier than thou" attitude from the range officers from first checking in. You spend your money to be judged and talked down to and wait over 30 minutes for someone to slow waddle a target change meanwhile the range officer is running though a million "what if" scenarios and commanding your undivided attention. Maybe the staff can improve their familial relationships so they can feel the attention and respect they desire from their own children rather than seeking out and treating THE PAYING...
