We purchased our log set a few years ago. We were happy with the purchase until my husband went up on top of the roof to install a bat door as we couldn’t figure out how an occasional bat was getting in. Only twice in the few years but even that’s too many!
My husband installed a bat door a few months ago so any bats would leave the chimney and he would see how they were getting in.
The fire log set, fireplace door and dampers were installed and look fantastic! Quality is great and everything works well!! The dampers were supposed to be installed the same week. The installer never showed the first 2 times we were told he’d be there. Finally 4+ weeks later he installed the dampers. I wasn’t happy about the length of time and complained about the installer to Management who thought it was completed, even though we called and spoke to staff more than once.
We have had no reason to ever go on the roof until the bat issue. Come to find out, the installer must’ve been upset that we complained about him. We did notice a few bricks on the ground next to a basement window and our propane tank, but thought maybe he had to remove them to fit them. I did not notice, but my husband mentioned there were pieces of, what appeared to be, terra-cotta on the ground next to it .
My husband went up to install the bat door, it appears the installer took a hammer to our liner, cracking it and chippeing away at the top to put the damper on it. There was no reason for him to do this as the damper would’ve fit fine. We thought a screen was supposed to be installed also, but may have misunderstood that part.
The cracks and chips allow areas a bat or bird or other animal could easily get into the chimney around the damper. We are not pleased with this!
We were going to have Hearths of fire install a gas insert for our other fireplace. Upon seeing this, we decided against it. It's a shame as the other items were...
Read moreAmazing customer service! I purchased a hearthstone wood stove from them 25 years ago.they delivered it, installed everything including the chimney first issue I encountered was was about 17 years later when I discovered the cast piece inside had cracked and my heart sank I was elated to find out that they were still in business and were able to order the part for me and I was able to easily fix it now today after being our main source of heat for 25 years the clips that hold the glass in the door and the gasket needed to be replaced I was apprehensive about repairing it myself they offered to come fix it and ultimately walked me through getting the door off and had me bring it out to them where they drilled and tapped out all the old screws made all new clips for it and replaced the gasket saving me hundreds of dollars if I had to buy the clip's online it would have cost $44 just for the parts not including the cost of the gasket and they charged me less than $20 and I had my stove back heating my house the same day! Thanks Keith!! Who did repair and everyone else there that was so kind and helpful can't say how much I appreciate you...
Read moreThe people in the store were nice, but their stoves and services are very expensive. Stoves start around $2000. We had to wait a few weeks for their guy to come down and give us an estimate on installation. The guy who came said it would be over $10,000. He wanted to put in a new chimney which would be very expensive, even though we have a chimney already in place for our oil furnace. Claims we need a separate one for the stove. Then it costs a lot of money to put stone on the floor for the stove, unless I get my own stones and do it myself. So most likely I would end up paying over $13k. Not a good option for us. We can already put in a new propane furnace. Our main complaint is that they won't tell us up front that it is so expensive. Instead we had to wait and waste a few weeks waiting for their...
