My partner and I stopped in to watch the Brewers and check out the build-your-own-bloody mary bar. The ladies who were working - Val and Wendy and one other, we mostly spoke with Val - were SO friendly and made us feel at home. The BYOBM bar had so many snacks available (meat sticks, pickled mushrooms, cheese, peppers, etc) that we didn't need meals! Nonetheless we checked out the menus, and it looks like the place has good food options too (I suppose note that this isn't a review of the food/restaurant, just the bar). Local patrons were friendly too. When the Brewers hit a walkoff home run, everyone in the bar hi-fived! This is the sort of place that is common in Wisconsin and the UP but rare elsewhere - a friendly corner bar where everyone's welcome and the drinks are cheap and vibe is great. Not much of a football fan but I wish I could hang out there during a Packers game, I bet it would be wacky and wild! We'll be back and we'll get a meal next time (unless we once again fill up on bloody mary fixin's!) Also a good stop for ATV riders if my observations...
Read moreStopped in for the first time today. Welcoming hostess behind the bar. Old school country playing in the background. She served us right away and brought us menu's and a drink. Stella on tap was good. Also on wkds they have a bloody Mary build your own. My build was brussle sprout, shrimp, beefstick, pearl onions, green onion, clamatoe juice tomatoe juice and horseradish. After a chat with Bryon the barkeep our meal came. A great third pound burger for me and prime rib sandwich for my wife. She is hard to please on this. Both were outstanding! They came with a mound of homemade thin cut fries crisp and hot. And creamy tasty slaw. more than we could eat but so good we did it. Found out they process their own meat and grind the burger themselves. He said they also make their own bologna and he is going to try homemade liverwurst. The bacon on my burger was instantly a pop of Smokey flavor. Fast, clean friendly. Also reasonable. We'll be back PS also...
Read moreI visited this weekend with my sister in law and her friend who has a family cabin in the area. They were packed, which is a good sign for a restaurant! We were not in a rush at all but the waitress was very nice and let us know she had a few more tables that sat down at the same time as us so I went to grab drinks at the bar for our table while we waited. The bartender was so very nice and accommodating and the locals sitting at the bar were also very kind.
The food:
The fried mushrooms were amazing!! Of course we loved the cheese curds, but my fave was the breading on the mushrooms and onion rings. Steak was delicious and we couldn’t have asked for better service. By the way the mushrooms on the steak are amazing as well! I am not usually such a giant fan of mushrooms but don’t sleep on it at this...
