I am deeply dissatisfied with the veterinary services provided by Dr. Vandertop and the facility. I have been bringing my elderly dog to this clinic for about two years now (we relocated from MN) expecting them to have my back in case of an emergency, considering his age of around 16 years. However, my recent experience has been disappointing.
On Monday night, I had an emergency with my dog and took him to urgent care. They assessed his condition and assured me that he would be fine to wait until morning for a regular appointment to save on costs. However, when I called the Chippewa Valley Vet clinic first thing in the morning, they informed me that they couldn't accommodate me until the following day. I was shocked and frustrated. Given his age, there is a significant risk that his symptoms could deteriorate rapidly, leaving him with a decreased chance of recovery. Shouldn't they have reserved open slots for regular clients? It seems that this clinic does not prioritize their existing clients' needs.
To make matters worse, the vet tech I spoke to was somewhat rude and dismissive. (I believe her name was Claire) When I expressed my concerns, she simply stated, "Well, we are not an emergency clinic." This response was not only unprofessional but also demonstrated a lack of empathy. In my previous experience working at a vet clinic, we always made sure to accommodate our current clients, especially if their pets had recently visited an emergency room. We would even have some clients drop off their pets so we could work them in-between appointments. Or we would move around the scheduling to make it work.
I am utterly disgusted by this experience. I strongly advise against wasting your money at this clinic, as they will treat you like a new customer and disregard your loyalty. It has been a complete waste of my time, and most importantly, my dog did not receive the proper care he deserves.
After staying up all evening worried sick on Monday night, spending a significant amount at urgent care, and after being turned away from my normal vet Tuesday morning, I dedicated half of my morning to calling other clinics in an attempt to get my dog seen elsewhere. It was disheartening to discover that this clinic showed absolutely no concern or willingness to help.
I was able to secure an appointment at another clinic on Tuesday afternoon. Despite not being their client, they kindly accommodated me and understood the situation.
Again, Given his age, there is a significant risk that his symptoms could deteriorate rapidly, leaving him with a decreased chance of recovery. It's incredibly disheartening to think that my vet would refuse to help when I needed them the most. As this is the first time my dog has really gone downhill like this. 💔 Nor did the clinic bother to call and follow up to see how he was doing. I have made the decision that I will never return to this...
Read moreTo start off the month of November we sent a healthy dog there to be spayed, our dogs never have any interaction with other dogs except at the vet and she came home with kennel cough. After calling and telling the vet this they told me she probably picked it up walking through a room and then refused to treat all 6 of our dogs and told us to quarantine her. It had been a week already so they were all exposed and they all ended up with it. Having puppies on the way at the end of the month I contacted another clinic I had been to and after talking to them they decided to treat all of our dogs so it wouldn’t kill the puppies when they were born. Fast forward to Monday November 18, I called with concerns about discharge our pregnant dog was having and I thought she should be seen immediately, after finally talking to a vet hours later I was told this was totally normal don’t be concerned and she should have them within the week. Thursday morning she had 4 puppies all dead. Hours went by and I knew she had more yet so I called asking for an X-ray and a plan as what to do cuz she had stopped labor. First I was told they were to busy to see me, really? This was an emergency! Finally the lady on the phone told me if you can be here in 15 min we will try and fit you in, no worries I live 12 min from here. I went in we did xrays and an ultrasound only to find my concerns I had on Monday we’re valid and should NOT have been dismissed as all 15 puppies were dead and now giving off toxins inside mom. They offered to do the c section to remove all puppies as I was told it is very costly to do I know, I declined and found a vet who I could trust more because clearly they do not know what...
Read moreWe had a rough day of putting our boy Leo down. We want to give major accolades to the clinic on how they handled us, but mostly how they handled our loved one through the entire process of not just today, but since his diagnosis of lymphoma. Although it never gets easier to say good bye, the clinic did a fantastic job in so many ways. The separate home like room, clear conversation of what to expect during and after the procedure. Then the gentle exit of the Vet to let us say our final good bye. Although we have more stories of why we have chosen and will continue to choose them, this vet clinic is the best we have ever...
