Cheaply refinished, poor/sloppy work, rude owner. Took our table to be refinished based on reviews. Husband said owner sounded rude, but seemed to know what he was talking about, and we should just go with it because we wanted it done right. Should have listened to our gut. Table had a leaf in it, and owner told us to bring leaf and table top so all would match. Said he couldn't guarantee the same color but would get as close as possible. Said would take 4-6 weeks, took around 8. Picked it up, they showed us the leaf, thought was amazing! Such a great match! Didn't see actual table top until took it home. Leaf was perfect because they never touched it! The table top was totally different shade, not the rich red we previously had, but rather more of a greyish tint. Okay, fine, he warned us he would get it as close as possible (which based on samples on his wall I don't think he did), but the mismatch was too drastic, and we had to take the entire table back to have him match the leaf to the table (which he specifically told us he would do in the first place! He said to bring the leaf so the entire table top would match). Disappointed in color, fine. He warned us, not going to complain about that. The finish is so cheaply done it is ridiculous. A child's sticker flipped over and was lightly laying on the table, pulled up the finish. Scotch tape pulls up the finish! The finish chips/scratches at the slightest touch. I am so disappointed for the amount of money he charged us to refinish the table, I expected a quality job/quality inputs. That he didn't do the entire table (leaf and table), we had to take it back, and then the cheap materials he used - I am just shocked, astounded, and disappointed. Don't take your furniture here to be refinished. Can't speak to his own work/creations, but it almost seemed like he was angry to have to refinish a store brand table. ~$800 wasted.
UPDATE: I should note that yes, the Furniture Doctor DID fix the leaf without an extra after having to take it back to them and notify them. For that reason, that they acknowledged their error and fixed it begrudgingly, I updated the review from one...
Read moreI brought a bench cushion in to be reupholstered. Myself and Tom (and a female employee) talked and decided the cushion would only be covered on one side as that way there would be no seams shown. I was told they would have enough extra material to create two pillows. After waiting several weeks they called to tell me the cushion was completed. When I picked it up I was told no one ever wrote down anything about pillows being made and that there was not enough material to make extra pillows. The bench cushion was covered on both sides and there are seams showing. I paid the $360, and was slightly confused about the conversation. I knew there was nothing I could do about the bench cushion at this point so I received it and brought it home. Once I was home I thought about the initial conversation and called to talk to him about it. He blatantly told me none of this happened we never had that conversation and all but called me a liar. He also said if any material was left over it would be a small amount, not enough to make a pillow. I didn’t wanna argue with him so I let it go. Then I received a phone call message from him saying that he found the extra material and would ship it to me. When I received the material I realized it was large enough to cover the bench cushion on one side. 30” wide and 66” long. So I paid a large sum for this work and had so much extra material. There is certainly enough material to make two pillows. What a extremely disappointing experience. My advice: get it in writing. I will not be shopping here again or promote the business. Thanks...
Read moreNot the best experience. Visited in May and needed two cushions and a small foot stool reupholstered. Quoted around $1000.00 with a required deposit of $550.00. Said job would be completed after July 4th.We paid the deposit and then checked back in early July. Was told we were next in que and would call us in a month to bring the items in. Called back in August and they again said we were next in que and we were looking at at least 2 months to start the job. After complaining why such a delay I was told that not many people know how to upholster furniture and that COVID was to blame? . I asked for a refund on my deposit. They said they do not give refunds but i could take my material and go somewhere else. I did that and went to Marios upholstering in Conesus and in within 2 weeks the job was perfectly done. The cost $343.00 . I wanted to then check on the cost for the material that was originally purchased for the job and my original invoice was for 4yds @ $135 per. I went on line and found out the actual price was $50.85 per yard. I understand you need to mark up the material but that was quite a high markup. They made over$300.00 for...
