At the time of this review, it has been THREE WEEKS without any estimation of the cost of repair or payout of my truck. NYCM will not tell me the inital estimate. They will not tell me if they are going to total the truck or not. The adjuster tried to call the body shop (their preferred body shop in the area, mind you) to assess the damage on Day 4 but was told that the truck wasn't there even though it had been there from Day 1. The assessor did not arrive until Day 9, and even then they did not decide if the truck was to be totaled. On Day 15, the assessor called me to say that it looks like it can be repaired but it was so close to being totaled that he needed to check with his supervisor after the holiday. On Day 20, he called back to say that it looks like the truck will be totalled, but needs another estimation. On Day 21, with ZERO answers from the insurance company, I went to the agency with my title because it was suggested by NYCM to my wife that having the title faxed to them would speed up the process; I was told by the agency that they would only need that if they were totalling the vehicle. That's THREE TIMES they tried to get me to sign over the title WITHOUT AN ESTIMATION OF DAMAGES. Nobody from the insurance company has contacted me directly; they had their third-party adjuster talk to me directly. THREE WEEKS.No rentals were available, according to NYCM, and had to rent a broken down compact car until such time as one became available. I asked NYCM if they would be kind enough to locate a rental and have it delivered if possible. They said they'd call Monday and try and help me out with locating a rental but they never did. And when one became available I had to drive 30 miles to pick it up from the mechanic myself as it just had its oil changed. Of course that has a slow leak in one of the tires. Now NYCM tells me that, as a courtesy, they have automatcially extended retnal services because it has been 22 days as of yesterday (it wasn't, it was 20). I have been more than patient with NYCM but they have given me the runaround, they have outsourced their double-speaking duties to a third party, and my understanding is that the adjuster is so green that the body shop had to actually point out damage he missed, at least according to the NYCM preferred body shop. I have filed a complaint with New York State Financial Services and the Better Business Bureau and will be pursuing other complaints. This will go to court if this is not handled to my satisfaction; time is no longer key. Time is up. We are now in damage control mode. NYCM represents the WORST experience I have EVER had with a claim. The only other time I was in a similar situation, the vehicle was FIXED and UNDER BUDGET AND ON TIME. I will probably end up switching to one of those big-name cut-rate insurance companies with obnoxious commercials. At least those people repaired the last deer damage claims I had. EDIT: After reading other reviews, I will DEFINITELY be switching. Apparently they are just as poor to deal with if you are a customer or their customer's victim. If, God forbid, I were to cause an accident I would pray my insurance company would take care of them. It looks like that doesn't happen very often. This cannot stand. NYCM only continues to exist because they somehow manage to rake in enough money to stay out of debt... probably by tricking people into signing off on a total loss when it could easily be repaired. I refuse to continue to fund this company.

I got hit sitting in my parked car in a parking lot on a lunch break by a driver with this insurance, and it was 100% they fault. The driver was apologetic and ensure me that her Insurance would take care of it. Damages are $3638.54. They then deny full responsibility and now want me to pay half. Their excuse is if I was never parked where I was the accident would’ve never happened!…

Looking to get car insurance. This place came highly recommended by some locals. I take a look at the reviews on here & my jaw drops. This company clearly shouldn’t be in business. I understand insurance is a scam that exists to fill the pockets of people with connections & corporate lobbyists, this is the Ununited Corporation of America, go figure. But, the amount of reviews of victims of drunk drivers where the driver was insured by this company yet the company ignored the police report and fault findings to not pay out was one too many. The stories of people waiting for weeks for payment on a claim were far too many. I found myself wondering why people have such glowing reviews in small town fb groups but I realized people will talk up these types of places because they have a friend who is an agent that benefits directly from the publicity. This company better be careful, they’re going to try their scam on the wrong person & get aired out on the same social media which lead me to this review section. It’s 2024 and they’ve amassed several very negative posts. People, it is not worth the trouble you’ll go through and your hard earned money to save a little money compared to the bigger insurance companies. I hate them all frankly but the lesser of multiple evils is anyone else in this case. Take a look at the repetitive, lazy, and often condescending responses their social media person or whoever they are leaves on the negative reviews. I even saw them sharing someone’s information in a rude response from a few years ago. People who work for companies like this particularly underwriters need to be exposed to their communities for the disgusting things they do to the people they serve. The heartlessness, the profits over people ethos & the fake ā€œwe care about youā€ crap is disgusting. So before you send a copy paste response NO I am not a customer no I will not ever be a customer but I suggest you guys take a look in the mirror and reassess the reviews you’ve garnered. Is this the kind of operation you want to run? I saw MULTIPLE reviews where people are contacting lawyers due to your malpractice & disregard for the very people who help keep your lights on, be it at home or your offices ( assuming you actually have those). aDO BETTER,BECAUSE YOU FOLKS KNOW BETTER. You’re putting people in desperate situations and desperate people do the unthinkable. It’s like none of you watched the movie John Q! I saw a customer of yours had to sell their home because you cancelled his homeowners insurance & all I can do is pray he was trolling but the length and details of his ordeal seem too specific for someone to fake. You don’t become the target of a mass conspiracy where people inundate you with fake reviews unless you’ve EFFED up somewhere along the line.if you’ve made it this far, make the wise choice, a lot can be hanging on that decision. In the mean time I will be directing some of my friends who have connections to regulatory bodies & consumer protection to this company because it’s the least I can do after what I’ve read.

Again, no need for your copy & paste script, I won’t be emailing any...

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM:

I made $1,100 down payment (in July 2023) and $573 monthly for a liability insurance, because I’m considered an inexperienced driver (I’ve had my license since 2022) with a speeding ticket….. After 6 months of payment without getting into any trouble, my insurance is supposed to reduce to $375 monthly. But these guys cancelled my insurance in November because apparently there was a questionnaire they sent me and I didn’t fill out. I’ve never missed a payment but I drive a lot for work. I came home to the bad news that my insurance was cancelled. I called to see if there was anything I could do…

I kid you not, these guys told me to make another down payment and pay $573 per month for 12 months. COMPLETE SCAM!!! Left me devastated.

Further more: you’re supposed to have 90 days to surrender your plates or get a new insurance or be indefinitely suspended… these guys only gave me 60 days.

Edit: After exchanging emails. They said there’s nothing they can do….. So I make another down payment and start my insurance policy from the scratch, in hopes that it reduces after 12 months. I did the questionnaire this time around with Michelle Young. in the questionnaire I said that I usually spend Tuesday nights at my coworkers place, next thing you know, I get a mail that I said have to send a copy of my coworkers drivers license with his mothers drivers license and everyone in that house, and their insurance because since I spend the night, it means they also have access to my car. I called nycm and said I’m the only one driving that car. If I ask my coworker for a copy of his license he’s going to ask me if I’m crazy. Moreover he was going away to college and I would no longer spend the night at his place. I have to call out Michelle Young. Why would she say they have access to my car??? Then these guys make me get a notarized statement that I’m the only one driving my car and they’re not liable for any damages the car sustains if someone else is driving it. I had to go buy a $300 dash cam because my insurance is not full coverage. At the end of 12 months (2024) I spoke to them about my insurance reducing. But THEY HAVE RAISED MY INSURANCE and asked my to make a 3rd down payment to renew my insurance and my new liability rate would be $605 monthly. I’m outraged as I ask what happened to them telling me it would be $370 per month??! They told me that’s not how it works and they don’t have control over it. I should take it up with whoever linked me up with them. I’m devastated, the car dealership where I bought my car connected me to these guys... How can I afford $605 monthly for a liability insurance?? To make things worse, I needed the car to commute to work but my workdays got cut from 5 to 3 days a week. I’m currently broke. The car, (2014 Nissan maxima) constantly breaks down. I still owe my mechanic from previous fixes and now the car’s engine is malfunctioning. I’m fighting for my life right now. I READ the comments and others have things worse. This is my 2 cents… the insurance company took the rest...
