The approach as described uses a very steep and rough trail that is a 5.5 mile roundtrip due to the closure of the final part of Hurricane Mt. Lane. The best approach is from Rt. 9N and is a modern, well-graded trail that is only a mile longer roundtrip than the described approach. If you do choose to use the Hurricane Mountain Lane approach, please stop and park where the signs say to park. The gate may be open, but it only goes to a private residence, and there is no possibility of any public parking beyond the gate.
