If this is is the only review I ever leave I am going to make it count, with that being said Elma Meadows is a nice course in solid condition that I have enjoyed playing the two times I went. Unfortunately today when me and my girlfriend decided to play we where met with one of the rudest starters or individuals I have ever encountered.
After we arrived an I paid me and my girlfriend who was not playing because she had a broken leg made our way to the starter, when I passed him my receipt he looked at me and started asking what she was doing in the cart ? I simply explained that she was just riding along and that she was unable to play. Little did I know that this was the start of one of the rudest interactions I have ever had. The starter who was a tall elderly gentlemen began rudely explaining that they don't allow riders, when I asked if I could pay a cart fee for her he instantly shut that down, he then said that everyone in the cart needs their own clubs (must have 5). He then got way to close to the cart and arrogantly asked what are we going to do about this? as if we where making this a big deal. I calmly looked at him and said what are the options we don't want to make anything more difficult for you, what can we do? His response was "Oh you're not making anything hard for me, but I will tell you that this is not going to fly on my golf course"
In order for us to play we had to go back to the cashier and pay for 18 holes and a cart along with rental clubs for my girlfriend who in case you forgot still had a broken leg and could barely move without help. This low quality lecture that he gave us took place in front of the "Elma Meadows Rules" sign which had no listing of any requirement that there are no riders or non players allowed, and that all players must have their own clubs and a minimum of 5.
Like I said before the course was a great time, its a fun layout with good challenging holes in a really pretty area. I would recommend playing it but make sure you drive quickly past the starter he is easily worked up. Me and my girlfriends attempt to get out and enjoy a beautiful day was not spoiled by this man no matter how hard he tried.
Its truly unfortunate that we had to deal with someone who clearly was never taught basic manners and people skills, as someone who works in a customer service field I cant even fathom treating someone the way me and my girlfriend where treated today. We never at any point showed any disrespect towards him or any other member of staff, and even after I went back to pay for my girlfriend to "play" we passed him the receipt and still left him with a thank you.
I really hope that this is addressed but based on the similar reviews dating years back my hopes...
Read moreMy neighbor invited here because he has a season pass. First time we went it was a decent experience, slightly better than I expect from a city/county course. The weather just didn’t cooperate that day and it wasn’t a good round. Still, I was willing to go back. After today, I’m not sure I will.
For starters, the cashier had an attitude problem. He obviously doesn’t want to be there and be bothered by people. My neighbor said that guy is ALWAYS in a bad mood.
Then the starter let a group of three in front of us while we were on the practice green. We weren’t told there was another group ahead of us when we checked in with him.
Next we were bottlenecked because for some reason they felt they needed to be out mowing at 3pm on a holiday weekend. Everyone had to wait on the 2nd and 3rd holes for the mower to move so they wouldn’t hit him. He almost ran over a couple balls that were hit into the rough!
Then we were bottlenecked by a 4some that clearly was behind the pace and had no understanding of golf etiquette. They didn’t let anyone through and took forever because they had a couple newer players who weren’t very good.
A ranger drive by us on 14 completely oblivious to what was going on. No idea that pace of play was off by so much.
After completing just 15 holes in 3-1/2 hours, we left.
The course itself is in great shape, but there were no excuses for the issues we...
Read moreIt was my first time going to Elma Meadows Golf Course and I will not be going back. I booked a tee time for my girlfriend and I, hoping that it would be a nice, easy course to help teach my girlfriend. When we went inside the pro shop to pay, they asked my girlfriend if she had a set of clubs. She was planning on using my clubs, as she is just getting into golf and doesn’t have her own set of clubs yet. They would not let her golf because she didn’t have her own set of clubs. At this point, we decided that I was going to golf solo and my girlfriend would hangout in the cart. Even though it was just myself golfing, they still made her pay full price even though she was just sitting in the cart. Staff was also not welcoming, even though we stated it was our first time there. We were hoping the club house would offer beers and snacks, but they did not have anything available, not even water. If you’re looking to have a good golf experience, I don’t recommended going to...
