I attended a week long sports camp at Golden Goal Sports Park and might I say: while the fields were indeed phenomenal, the staff and services were not. Upon arrival into the cabin, the floor was completely soaked and humid. I’m unsure if the windows were left open during the rainy few days before camp, but I had to keep my bag on top of the metal bunk bed to avoid it getting wet. Additionally, some of the cabins became flooded during a storm which blew through the area. The bathroom situation was okay, save for a few mold spots, however the real problem was the staff. The staff did have a heads up before a total of 80+ kids (including coaches) moved into the cabins provided by Golden Goal, but were simply unprepared. For the first two days of meals, I’d say the food was alright. We were given small portions and upon asking for more while we were up for firsts (this was after our many training sessions of running on the fields) the staff side eyed us or simply told us no because there “wouldn’t be enough for everyone”. Yes, we were welcome to seconds, however almost everyone wanted seconds due to the small portions sizes and the staff seemed less than pleased to give us more. To add on, the vegetarian options were simply repetitious. It was either tofu, or left over vegetables from the previous night. After we were told we cannot come up for more small portions, the staff then helped themselves to large plates of food. On the last night of camp, one of the staff members even admitted to being unprepared, saying “we didn’t think you guys would eat THAT much.” This was a camp filled with kids who were burning calories from out running on the fields and additionally were being served smaller portions than we were used to. Whether the staff thought we would eat “that much” or not, they should have come prepared. I would not recommend coming here for an active sports camp overnight, but their fields are good...
Read moreThe main thing I want to express is my disappointment in the quality and quantity of food served. Portion size was a major issue. No person received adequate calories over the course of a day eating just the meals served. I don't eat meat and the amount of calories provided for me wouldn't cover half of what I burned each coaching session. We need over 1,000 kcals per meal and between salad with no dressing, a small bowl of tofu, and a small scoop of steamed veggies on a tortilla, I count maybe 3-400kcals. I lost over the course of the week and am surprised I didn't have energy issues while working. Everyone was limited to small portions of food – told they could come back for more after everyone had been served – but it took 45 minutes to serve everyone for the first time and we only allotted an hour for our meals. Meals were consistently served late – 15 minutes after our designated meal time began. Despite serving size limits, several times the line was held up waiting for more food to be prepared because it wasn’t ready. It was really disappointing to hear the staff say at the end of the week that "they just didn't think we would eat that much." It's Golden Goal's responsibility to feed the campers appropriately and I was shocked that that was deemed acceptable for a sports camp. Will never...
Read moreBeautiful fields, horrible facilities and food service! Shower curtain rods kept falling down and hitting girls in the head. Paint peeling off cabin floors. No AC - 1 fan provided. Food service staff limited quantities and variety of food for girls doing 3-a-days. Few alternative food options for vegetarians or gluten free. Injuries increased due to lack of food. Several got sick after eating undercooked chicken on last day. Snack shop open from 9-11pm only?? They were told not to bring their own snacks because of bears in the area so they couldn’t supplement. They stopped providing water alternatives (Gatorade), and weren’t diligent about...
