My family and I had a spectacular experience at Gatherwild. We booked a last minute stay during the week. The owners live on the premises and are very friendly, which makes this place stand out from other traditional hotel/corporate type of businesses. They are very welcoming and laid back people.
When we arrived, Laura greeted us and showed us around. She also offered us different rooms/tents that were available, which we ended up switching to the Pink Bungalow. My three year old son felt right at home and immediately took it upon himself to start running around the property, talking to Laura and Paul as if he knew them his entire life!
Our room (Pink Bungalow) was very cosy and perfect for our chilly autumn stay. Each room/tent has its own uniqueness and privacy with wonderful views of the surrounding scenery. Fire pits, hammocks, and picnic tables are available at each location--smore's kits included. Locally sourced meat is also available for purchase (we brought our own food though).
Whether you're looking for glamping (like my son) or just a nice quiet and relaxing get away, this is the place to stay! We will definitely be returning. Thank you Laura and Paul for maintaining such a...
Read moreI would like to show my gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Gatherwild by writing a fantastic review. I take my children "glamping" every year and we stumbled on Gatherwild...it's a PERFECT location...beautiful, charming and immaculate. The bathrooms were clean, the tent was large and waterproof. When they heard I was bringing four children they laid out extra mattresses. When the night was colder than expected they literally brought us more blankets. They were responsive...reaching out before and during via text and phone. It was a beautiful trip and I would highly recommend Gatherwild to anyone, especially families, who are looking to go camping but would benefit from the at home luxuries (refrigerator! showers!) they have. It seems remote to children, especially as you pass several horse farms on the way, but just a mile or too away there were enough grocery options for those whose children are less adventurous. We had fun day trips already planned, but before we left my children enjoyed seeing the chickens and the goat, too. Really a well thought-out, detail oriented place that takes care of its guests....
Read moreMy family and I like to find unique places to stay in beautiful natural settings and Gatherwild definitely fit the bill. We (2 older teen sons, my husband and myself) stayed in the Stargazer Tent + Caravan which offered space for all of us. We gathered around the firepit at the end of each day to relax, make s'mores (courtesy of the hosts) and gaze at the night sky. The place is well maintained and beautifully planned out offering plenty of space and privacy for each site. There is so much to do in the nearby area. To name a few things, we rented kayaks at North/South Lake Campground, did some hiking to waterfalls and beautiful views in the Catskills and visited the Olana State Historical Site just up the road (historic home and landscaped grounds of Frederic Church who was a central figure in the Hudson River School of American landscape painters). You can also just relax at the ranch on the hammocks and swinging chairs, play games like ping pong and cornhole in the barn or borrow bicycles to explore the nearby area. Laura is an amazing host and we thank her and her family for their warm...
