Very disappointed in the customer service at this store. I’ve been a return customer at this location for over 30 years in Door County when I am on vacation. I purchase a chair for camping and when I got back to the campsite I realized that I purchase a chair for a younger kid. When I tried to return it I was told that they don’t accept returns on chairs under any circumstance. I was going to purchase a more expensive chair to replace the one I bought so it is obvious that was not trying to scam them and use the chair for 1 night and then bring it back to get a refund. I understand having a policy and sticking to it but when it is obvious that it was just a mistake they should make an exception. The end result is that they have lost a customer for life. This is my husband's favorite go-to place for everything he needs for his repair business. The staff is very friendly and they know him by name. It's rare that they don't have what he needs. If he recommends that the owner stock something he needs on a regular basis, the owner listens to him and orders it if he can. They also have a bulletin board where my husband has his business card pinned up. I like to go in there too and look for decorative things for our house. Brought back a receipted return according to their return policy. The manager would not give me a return on my original form of payment. Hassled me during the process despite my greatest attempt to meet the situation with kindness, understanding and compassion.

I own my own business and would never find myself running a successful business if I conducted myself the way Gary did today. My local True Value staff would never be caught treating a rule following customer so poorly.
