My experience with The Dog Chateau on Route 5 in Glenville, was very disappointing. Prior to our February break trip, we received notification of a rate increase which would be effective the day we were leaving for our trip. We were paid in full at the original rate we were quoted , for our two dog, nine day stay. This resulted in an unexpected additional charge of $500. I discussed my concerns with the owner, Kori-Ann, who responded and offered a complimentary bath for our dogs and what was expressed to be a slightly reduced rate for boarding two dogs.. However, due to the difficulty in securing alternative arrangements during the winter break, we were required to board and pay the increased rate. We had friends boarding ( who were long time Dog Chateau patrons under the previuos owner) who also were required to pay the significant rate increase as securing alternate boarding on a high travel week that you felt comfortabel with was a challenge. I felt (and continue to feel )this was a poor business move and was completley to take advantage of those traveling on school vacation. If this rate increase was expressed upon our booking (which we made in December) we would have had ample time to find alternate accomodations that we were comfortable with. Unfortunalety we were stuck with paying more for boarding our dogs ($1400) than our actual airline tickets for four people ($1200) We were also informed when we returned our dogs did not in fact get pack walks as much as originally stated due to weather conditions. And were informed, They were not able to be allowed in for daycare play due to their individual play needs? However, when we did our trial overnight in December, to see if The Chateau was a good fit we were told that they were excellent and welcomed back for both daycare...
Read more5+ stars for The Dog Chateau! We first met Markie (the owner) about 3 months ago with our brand new, 15-month-old, pound puppy. Gilly was initially too scared and insecure to attend daycare, but Markie gave us solid advice that helped to get her on the right track. We also took advantage of the “Good Manners Class” at the Chateau. Soon, Gilly was gaining confidence and was ready for new friends. She has been attending daycare twice a week at the Chateau for the past 6 weeks and the progress she’s made is remarkable! It’s obvious that she is well cared for during her stay. All of the workers know her by name and Gilly is eager to be with them. She comes home happy, well-behaved and exhausted. The Dog Chateau has truly helped Gilly adjust to her new life.
The facility itself is better than any we’ve seen in the area. There are several large indoor rooms where the dogs can hang – sorted by activity level and temperament. The outdoor area is amazing with 11 fully fenced acres of fields and woods for the dogs to explore. Daily pictures are provided via their Facebook page.
We could not be happier with The Dog Chateau and would recommend it...
Read moreWe LOVE The Dog Chateau. We have been taking our puppy there since the start of the year and we are so thankful for them! Our puppy has matured in manners and training so much faster than we expected thanks to Markie and her team. They take such interest and care for your dog and it is easy to tell by how happy our pup is when we pull into the parking lot. Our pup Roxy always comes home exhausted, happy, and fulfilled after playing with her friends all day. Markie and her team are very welcoming to questions and offer very helpful advice, they have made us become better puppy parents with all of their help.
I find their online booking and payment to be very easy, especially during times where you need to schedule daycare last minute.
We also attended their good manners class lead by Bettie and it again helped both us and our puppy learn new things. We are considering taking the class once a year as a refresher course and as something to do in the winter that helps us bond with our pup.
We can't thank the Dog...
