BH Electric — Local services in Town of Groton

We moved into our home in 2021 knowing there were some electrical issues that needed to be fixed. BH Electric initially seemed responsive — he returned my call, came out to assess the situation, and told us he could update our breaker box, disconnect old wiring that once went to a pool, and later return to address the remaining knob-and-tube wiring inside the house.

He completed part of the work, but weeks went by with no updates. I called multiple times and left messages but never heard back. Eventually, we gave up trying to reach him and went on with our lives, assuming the outdoor wiring had been safely disconnected. We figured we’d address the remaining wiring later since other home projects had taken priority.

Fast forward to today — while installing a new fence, we discovered the wiring to the old pool area was still live. Another licensed electrician came out and found that not only was the outdoor line still attached through a tripped GFCI outlet, but our dryer outlet was also incorrectly wired. It had been installed on a 50-amp breaker instead of a 30-amp, which they said could have easily caused a house fire if we hadn’t unplugged it when we heard sizzling.

As the new electrician was finishing up, he also pointed out that the breaker box Brandon installed wasn’t sealed properly. Water was leaking in from the outside, causing corrosion and oxidation inside the box… another serious safety hazard. He stated that it could be okay if there isn’t a lot of water in there but from what he’s seeing and with how long it’s been, we may have to replace the whole thing again.

I rarely leave reviews, but this level of negligence is unacceptable and dangerous. I would strongly caution anyone against using this company. He installed a riser on my house and new service. I’m so glad i was able to find his company quickly because of the 5 Star reviews and what I read.

He was quick to my emergency call cause my panel box was unsafe and my breakers were soaked from rain water. I called him in an emergency cause by basement was flooding. The breaker to my sump pump fried and he made time to immediately ask where i lived and showed up promptly.

His work is neat, professional and he has a great work ethic. Brandon cleaned my breakers and put a fan on them to keep the moister off, plus greasing them so nothing else shorted.

He was fast to quote me an estimate and was quick to schedule the service, call the town’s electric company to disconnect the live wires and had the inspector there, all within a week or two during a full and busy summer schedule.

I can’t thank Brandon of B&H Electric enough, because of him and his company my house didn’t catch fire and new service was installed professionally.
